Pink Floyd's David Gilmour Reveals Inspiration For Louder Than Words

(hennemusic) Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour is sharing insight into the inspiration behind "Louder Than Words", the lead single from the band's forthcoming and final album, "The Endless River."

The song features lyrics by Gilmour's wife, author Polly Samson. "She's describing the slightly dysfunctional human relationships that we have within Pink Floyd," the guitarist tells Absolute Radio, "and how a lot of the time we don't communicate that wellwe're not that good at talking to each other. When we play our instruments there's a communication that speaks louder than words."

Due November 10 (Nov 11 in North America), "The Endless River" serves as the band's tribute to keybopardist Rick Wright, who died from cancer in 2008 at the age of 65.

The project features material recorded by Gilmour, Wright and drummer Nick Mason during sessions for 1994's "The Division Bell." Check out the video interview with Gilmour here.
