Phil Collins Says That He Is No Longer Retired
. The interview revealed that he is recovering from back surgery, and that his doctor told him "That my vital signs were all there. He said to me, 'If you want to play drums again, all you have to do is practice.'" Collins says that last year, he had rehearsed with former members of his solo band, including bassist Lee Sklar. Drummer Jason Bonham filled in for Collins' long time touring drummer Chester Thompson (which is ironic, as Collins filled in for Bonham's father John at the famously uneven Led Zeppelin reunion performance at Live Aid in 1985). But they only worked together for three weeks. As far as a Genesis reunion, Collins said he wanted to go out on his own first: "Let's start with this [solo] bit first. I love the guys.
