Almost all of the artists involved with Ozzfest urged fans to boycott the pay-per-view broadcast. Aside from Ozzy Osbourne other groups like Disturbed, Godsmack, Pantera, Static-X, Kittie, Methods of Mayhem, Soulfly, and Slaves on Dope had all asked fans to join in the boycott.
MCY responded by saying that their agreement
with Osbourne gave them pay-per-view rights. "Our contract with Osbourne
Management and our rights to both the webcast and broadcast of Ozzfest
2000 are clear and unambiguous. Osbourne Management granted MCY the pay-per-view
rights to Ozzfest 2000 but now, in the eleventh hour, has apparently decided
not to honor its legal obligation. We intend to hold
Osbourne Management to its contractual
commitment, and look forward to bringing this incredible show to fans across
the country. Artists' rights have always been of primary importance to
MCY and will continue to be."
The artist counter saying they have not
seen or approved the concert film and none of the artists will receive
compensation for the $20 a pop pay-per-view broadcast.
