The Year 2000 marks Motorhead's 25th year as one of the vanguards of metal. To help celebrate, Metal-Is has put together a very special 2 disc set of Motorhead favorites and some rare live recordings. Here is the official press release:
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of one of the world's greatest metal bands, Motorhead, the fast growingMetal-Is label is proud to present a career spanning 40 track digitally remastered CD entitled simply, The Best Of Motorhead.
This is the first time that such a comprehensive Motorhead collection has been made available. Hit singles including 'Ace Of Spades', 'Bomber', 'Overkill', 'Please Don't Touch' (performed with Girlschool as Headgirl) are all amongst this band authorised and personally selected set. Titles from all the important periods of the band's recording history have been carefully chosen. From their very early legendary Stiff Records label releases, through the Chiswick & Bronze eras right up to present day recordings, with their controversial cover of 'God Save The Queen' - taken from the recently released We Are Motorhead album. Added to this are 4 previously unreleased concert cuts from the early eighties when the band were selling-out tours on a regular basis, and were a legendary live attraction.
With recent triumphant appearances at a number of summer festivals in the UK & Europe, Motorhead will be touring later this year. In the meantime however, you can enjoy in one sitting the full history of a band that has been at the forefront of metal music for a quarter of a century - so they must be doing something right!
The Best Of Motorhead, catalogue number
MISDD 002, was released on the Metal-Is label on Monday 28th August 2000.
