musicNEWS: Quickies: Ozzfest, Halford, Axl Rose, and more
2-28-01 antiGUY

First off we have an Ozzfest 2001 update for you.  In the confirmed department Disturbed has been confirmed as the second stage headliner. In the unconfirmed department, there are rumblings that the second stage will also feature Boyhitscar and The Union Underground. As always we will keep you posted on the latest Ozzfest developments.

Good news for our European friends… Ozzfest is coming your way this year. The following was posted on the official Ozzfest website:

It’s official: The Ozzfest 2001 is coming to the U.K. Think ‘98, not ‘99, okay? Think Black Sabbath (‘72, not ‘89, right!); think Slipknot, Tool, Papa Roach, Disturbed, Mudvayne, Amen, Black Label Society, (hed)p.e., Union Underground, Apartment 26, and Raging Speedhorn. Think Milton Keynes Bowl, which can pack in a sum total of 50,000. Think about it—the show to end all shows coming to Great Britain May 26!!

Ticket on-sale information (and other announcements) will be posted as soon as it is made available.

No other shows are planned at this time in the European Union.

According to Metal Edge Karen McNeil the women who was convicted of stalking Axl Rose after she violated a restraining order, will be sentenced for violating her probation on March 1st. She was charged with the violation after she left an Ohio mental hospital last December without permission.

In other Axl news: Axl Rose has told journalist in South America that the new Guns ‘N Roses album, “Chinese Democracy” will be released in June with the first single hitting the radio airwaves in early spring.

Halford fans mark your calendars for April 17th because that is the day the new live Halford album “Live Insurrection” will be in stores through Metal-Is records. Three new studio tracks will be included along with the live tracks recorded last year during Halford's headlining tour and their supporting spot on the Iron Maiden “Brave New World Tour.”

Rob Halford’s former band Judas Priest will embark on a European tour this summer.

Judas Priest dates:

  • 6/8 - Konzertfabrik Z7 - Pratteln Switzerland
  • 6/8 - Gods Of Metal Festival - Milan Italy
  • 6/10 - Mind Over Matter Festival - Wiesen Austria
  • 6/13 - Barrowlands - Glasgow UK
