Ari Hest - The Break In Review

by Sherrill Fulghum

.
On the heels of his EP "The Green Room Sessions" which was recorded by Ari in his home is the full length studio album "The Break In". The Bronx native learned piano as a child and later taught himself to play the guitar. The prolific songwriter, Hest says that he writes every week, began playing the college circuit while he himself was attending college at NYU.

A young American version of Gordon Lightfoot, Hest's smooth baritone voice draws his listeners in. Although he call Brooklyn home, Hest is seldom there since he is constantly on tour.

"The Break In" is the sixth album and the second release with Columbia Records for Hest since his self released debut album in 2001. While Hest writes a great deal of solo music the new album also includes some musical collaborations.

Unfortunately Ari Hest is another one of those artists who are left off the list for radio airplay slots of the commercial airwaves.
