Jason Mraz Makes Chart History
PR reports: Jason Mraz has entered the record books with his history-making hit single, "I'm Yours." Described by the San Diego-based singer/songwriter as "his happy little hippie song," the track has spent a remarkable 70 weeks on Billboard's "Hot 100," shattering the record previously held by LeAnn Rimes' 1998 smash, "How Do I Live." "I'm Yours" now ranks as the longest-running song in the chart's 51-year history.

Certified 4x platinum by the RIAA for sales in excess of 4 million, "I'm Yours" is currently the third best-selling digital single of all time. Initially released to radio back in February 2008, the Grammy-nominated track from Jason's RIAA platinum-certified third album, "WE SING. WE DANCE. WE STEAL THINGS.", made history earlier this year as the first song ever to top the charts at four pop radio formats: CHR/Top 40, Triple A, Hot AC, and AC (where it held the #1 slot for 16 weeks, the most of any artist in 2009).

Mraz has also announced the upcoming release of an all-new live CD/DVD, "JASON MRAZ'S BEAUTIFUL MESS LIVE FROM EARTH." Due in stores and at all online retailers on November 10th, the album and DVD were recorded just last week as Jason's blockbuster "Gratitude Caf Tour" hit Chicago's Charter One Pavilion. Full details including a complete tracklisting will be revealed shortly. - more on this story

King of Twang Dethrones King of Pop
Reuters reports: The King of Pop stepped aside for the King of Country on Wednesday, when George Strait's "Twang" replaced Michael Jackson's enduring "Number Ones" as the best-selling album in the country.

Strait's new set sold 155,000 copies during the week ended August 16, according to Nielsen SoundScan, earning the country legend his fifth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. "Twang" follows in the footsteps of Strait's 1997 album, "Carrying Your Love With Me," 2004's "50 Number Ones," 2005's "Somewhere Down in Texas" and 2008's "Troubadour."

The last time one of Strait's studio albums opened with less than 100,000 was in 1994, when "Lead On" started with 56,000. "Twang" is also his 23rd No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, extending his lead as the act with the most toppers on the list. - more on this story

Sharon Van Etten East Coast
PR reports: Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Sharon Van Etten continues to play select East Coast dates in anticipation of the release of her full length debut because I was in love.

The album was recorded at Language of Stone co-owner Greg Weeks' Hexham Head studios in Philadelphia with Weeks producing and is being released on Language of Stone. I'm hoping you'll consider advancing her show with a feature, CD review or advance blurb.

Choosing to keep the accompaniment to a minimum, the songs are simple and understated, a wonderfully unique addition to the canon of folk love songs. - more on this story
