The most quintessential of American holidays, Thanksgiving, is the setting for a special celebration of a quintessentially American musical treasure: the classic songs of Motown. NFL fans will be dancing in their seats at home and at Ford Field in Detroit during the 2009 United Way Thanksgiving Day Halftime Show: A Motown 50th Anniversary Tribute. The Motown tribute will take place during halftime of the first game of the NFL's Thanksgiving tripleheader when the Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, November 26 at 12:30 PM ET on FOX.

In Motown's original hometown, this special halftime event features six of the brightest talents from the current roster of Universal Motown Records, performing classics from Motown's all-American songbook.

Bringing the unforgettable songs of Motown back to the Motor City are Melanie Fiona, Kem, Shontelle, Forever The Sickest Kids, Vita Chambers, and Hal Linton. The dynamic and driving tribute spans more than a decade of Motown classics every one of the songs among the most recognizable and culture-defining songs in pop music history. Following the performance, fans can visit to find out how to download a copy of the halftime medley, as well as music from each of the artists. Proceeds will benefit United Way. In addition, singer-songwriter Jadyn Maria will kick off the game in Detroit with the National Anthem. Two Brand New Black Sheep Projects Coming Soon
Dres, of the legendary Queens outfit Black Sheep is proud to announce the first of two brand new Black Sheep projects to be released in the next several months.

The Native Tongues veteran is gearing up for his first full length since 2006, the forthcoming From The Black Pool Of Genius. Before the album is released in Spring 2010, Dres has decided to whet Black Sheep fans' appetites with From The Black Pool of Genius: The Prelude, a five song EP to be released on December 1st, 2009.

The Prelude finds Dres showcasing his extraordinary skills without appearing to break a sweat. He manages to sound effortless while walking a lyrical tightrope- wielding his uniquely bouncy flow while addressing serious, deeply thought-out issues. Dres, one of the most experienced and insightful voices in hip-hop today, is using the album as a means of communicating what he believes the meaning of hip-hop truly is. "I once heard a poet say that 'hip hop backward is 'pih poh (people)'- the way I see it, many artists are a lot more hip-hop than they ever realized. I would dare to say that any artist over time, regardless of genre, that makes music for the 'pih poh'... is hip-hop." This type of inclusive, outside the box thinking is a hallmark of Black Sheep's music and is very much on display on From The Black Pool of Genius. - more on this story

Eric Hutchinson EP Coming
On December 15th, Warner Bros. Records will release Sounds Like This Live 2, an EP featuring stripped-down versions of five songs from Eric Hutchinson's full-length debut, Sounds Like This, which entered Billboard's Heatseekers chart at No. 1 in September of 2007. More than two years later, Sounds Like This is the second best-selling album on the Heatseekers chart. Sounds Like This Live 2 follows Hutchinson's Sounds Like This Live EP, which features live versions of five different songs and was released in April of 2009.

"I wanted to continue the approach I had on the first EP, getting the songs back to their purest form the way they were when I wrote them," he explains. "We had a day off in Minneapolis so I went into a studio and played through the songs in one take."

"OK, It's Alright With Me," a Top 5 hit at Triple A radio earlier this year, is now climbing the charts at the Hot AC format, where it's already #31* after only a month. Charlie Alex March Set February Release
UK artist/composer Charlie Alex March is pleased to announce the release of his debut album, Home/Hidden, with Lo Recordings. Home/Hidden, set for release in the US on February 16, is a wonderfully melodic and satisfying affair, gloriously English in a non-sniffy manner, like tea and crumpets or a stroll on an autumn day.

Remarkably focused and mature, it's eclectic mixture of real strings, treated piano and all manner of electronic keyboards create a surprisingly coherent and comfortable musical vision. Home/Hidden continues Charlie's association with Sean O'Hagan and Dominic Murcott of the High Llamas (string arrangements and vibraphone respectively) and also features the talents of Andy Ramsay of Stereolab on drums, Jo Apps on vocals and Gabriel from Metronomy playing bass guitar.

After two acclaimed EPs, one of which led David Bowie to comment, "it's a beautiful glockenspiel and string-led instrumental that gently comes and goes in under three minutes. Delightful," Charlie is now ready to unfurl his musical banner and let the world know that it's okay to love melody, it's okay to relax, to fall in love, to feel good about yourself. - more on this story
