Richie Sambora Reaches Out To Jon Bon Jovi

(Classic Rock) Richie Sambora has reached out to his former band Bon Jovi to congratulate them on the title track they released from their forthcoming album This House Is Not For Sale.

The follow-up to 2013's What About Now is their first work without the guitarist - who exited the band in 2013 before their world tour, leading to a public war of words that eventually settled down. Their relationship appeared to be on the mend after frontman Jon invited Sambora to do the 'ice bucket challenge' in 2014.

This House Is Not For Sale will be released via Island/Universal Music Group on October 21, following the band's acrimonious split with Mercury after more than 30 years.

Sambora says in a video message on Twitter: "Congratulations on the new single, man. God bless, good luck, hope you guys do great." Frontman Jon Bon Jovi replied, saying: "Thanks Richie and Orianthi. Look forward to hearing your record too. All the best, JBJ." Read more here.

Court Orders Randy Travis Arrest Footage To Be Released

(Radio.com) Randy Travis has fought hard to keep the dashcam footage from his 2012 DWI arrest private even though media outlets have repeatedly cited the Public Information Act in order to secure the tape.

On August 7, 2012, Travis was involved in a one-car accident in Tioga, Texas. Officers found him lying naked in the road with a blood alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit. Former Attorney General Greg Abbott stated the dashcam footage constituted a public record and should be released. But Abbott did say images of Travis from the waist down would be redacted (via Austin American-Statesman).

Travis filed suit, but when state District Judge Stephen Yelenosky sided with Abbott, his lawyers took the case to the state 3rd Court of Appeals in Austin. Travis' legal team argued that the dashcam footage should remain private not only because it showed his medical and mental conditions, but also because he was acting involuntarily.

The court ruled Thursday (August 18) that the footage does indeed fall under public record. Chief Justice Jeff Rose stated, "Even if we assume that the contents of the redacted dashboard recording contain information that is highly intimate and embarrassing to Travis, those facts were not private as a matter of law because Travis put himself in public by driving unclothed while intoxicated." The Roots Release Music Video Fans Can Taste

(Radio.com) The Roots have teamed up with beer producer Stella Artois to create the first music video you can taste. Stella Artois worked with creative services firm Sid Lee to cultivate specific sounds that people associate with specific flavors based on scientific research.

"Sounds can influence your sense of flavor," said Dan Chandler, executive creative director at Sid Lee. "We found fruity pineapple notes, for instance, and then asked people what sounds they represent. All of the sounds were then added to the video, to bring out the fruity or sweeter notes, or the bitter notes that come from the hops in the beer" (via AdWeek).

The Roots then created two different tracks, each called "Bittersweet." One contains a higher pitch to bring out Stella's sweet flavor, and the other contains a lower pitch to bring out its more bitter flavors. As listeners drink a Stella Artois while listening to each track, they should be able to "taste" the music, or at least have it transform the beer's flavor.

More than just listening to the tracks online, though, the attempt to pair music and taste comes as part of a multi-sensory experience put on by Stella Artois called Le Savoir. Held in Montreal earlier in August, in New York this week, and in Buenos Aires in September, the event features a four-course meal with beer pairings and a live performance by The Roots. Listen and see if you can taste the difference here.

Mac Miller Releases New Track 'We' Featuring CeeLo Green

(Radio.com) Mac Miller continues releasing colorful, soulful jams with his latest single "We" featuring CeeLo Green. He shared the audio track last week (August 18), and like his previous track "Dang!" it's all done to bright, peppy animation.

At over five minutes long, "We" has a relaxed beat with a strong drum presence up front. The lengthy intro lasts just over a minute before Miller begins rapping, "I'll think of something to say/ I always do/ I'm in love with the way you say my name/ Every time, it sound brand new/ And you, always wondering what will be/ I saw 'we' sound better than 'you and me'/ Baby, you could be my." He trails off before clarifying what exactly his lady could be, instead leaving a gap they can fill in together as they figure out what they mean to one other.

Green comes in at around three minutes, his voice rising to a gospel praise in the background before he sings about turning from a "me" into a "we." "We" appears on Miller's new album The Divine Feminine, which, from the two songs he's previewed off the project. Check it out here.

Tove Lo Releases 'Cool Girl' Video

(Radio.com) Tove Lo has released a music video for her song "Cool Girl." The track is the first single from Lo's forthcoming sophomore album Lady Wood, which is set to be released on October 28th.

The clip finds Tove writhing atop a car in a motel parking lot, while her alter ego with a shaved head gives a similar treatment to a glass coffin in the desert. You read that correctly.

In Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl (the novel and the hit movie) Amy Dunne unleashes an epic, oft-quoted rant on 'cool girls," the kind of women who are effortlessly funny, easygoing, and satisfying to bros. Meanwhile, she hatches a plot to disappear and frame her husband for her murder. Tove Lo channels that pathology and attitude on her new single 'Cool Girl," especially when she sings 'I'm a cool girl / Ice cold, I roll my eyes at you, boy." Watch the video here.

Mixtape includes a remix from producer Andre Betts, with guest verses featuring Public Enemy's Chuck D, the Roots' Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch, Prodigal Sunn, and Kyle Mansa.

Singled Out: Piss-Off's Antisocialite

Piss-Off! just released their new new EP "Perfect is for Remixes" and to celebrate we asked Anika Trujillo and Daniel Borkan to tell us the story behind the track "Antisocialite". Here is the story:

Early on we would meet at this crazy practice space called the sweatshop in Bushwick (Brooklyn). We would only book a hr or maybe two per session so every time we met up it was like "Hi! Ok start mashing buttons as fast as you can before they tell us we are out of time!" Antisocialite was one of our first songs and we proved to each other just how extreme we could be musically.

When we did the drum track there was an existing beat already, we sped the bpm up and changed out some of the more house elements and kept the weird sounds. Basically remixed ourself; so it's got all these crazy texture in the layers but a gross oversimplification of proper song structure. For the synth, we started by just wanting to make a song where white noise was the lead - meaning all frequencies screeching at once with no melody. All the pops of noise sound like a fight in a boiler room, us vs the terminator, with steam shooting out from all directions as we run for our lives. The synth chords give the audience a chance to catch their breath but the sound is still so tense here nobody could possibly relax.

This song is definitely the energetic equivalent of when you're taking a hot shower and someone flushes the toilet. After recording this song our engineer said "let's see how your volume compares to some other records". He then put on Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar and we found our own Antisocialite was a lot louder! Much evil laughter followed.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the EP right here!
