Summer |
Rockdirt reports: The Darkness have been working
on the follow-up to their debut album and admit in an interview with The
Glasgow Daily Record it hasn't been easy. "We've been at it solidly for
the last couple of weeks and it has had its ups and downs," guitarist Dan
Hawkins explained. "Because we've been touring for so long, we're getting
used to being creative again. We've written enough stuff for an album,
but we just want to make sure it's 10 times better than the last one. Hopefully,
the new album will be out early next summer."[see full story for more]-

Slipknot
Folk? |
BW&BK reports: In a recent interview with
Germany's Stalker Magazine (www.stalker.cd), SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman
Corey Taylor revealed that, when the mask comes off, he isn't the super-aggressive
venom spitting maniac people take him for. Read on...
"If the time comes and Slipknot and Stone
Sour aren't a part of my life anymore, I'm just going to do acoustic songs
and acoustic albums because that's what I write when I'm sitting at home.
I don't write a lot of metal songs. I can write them but I'm not as good
as the other guys. If I write something I want it to be completely different.
A lot of the stuff I write is really like a cross between Bob Dylan and...slow
stuff. I like slow stuff." [see full story for more]-

Assault In Iraq |
Blabbermouth reports: Lane DeGregory of The
St. Petersburg Times reports: As tanks geared up to trample Fallujah and
American troops started circling the city, special operations officers
rifled through their CD cases, searching for a sound track to spur the
assault.
What would irk Iraqi insurgents more: Barking
dogs or bluegrass? Screaming babies or shrieking feedback?
Heavy metal. The Army's latest weapon.
"It's not the music so much as the sound,"
said Ben Abel, spokesman for the Army's psychological operations command
at Fort Bragg, N.C. "It's like throwing a smoke bomb. The aim is to disorient
and confuse the enemy to gain a tactical advantage." [see full story for

Bret's personal plea to have it returned.
On Thursday evening, November 18, 2004,
The Loop was scheduled to host a promotional event at Hog Head McDunna's
in Chicago's Lincoln Park area. Before the event began, an anonymous person
delivered a guitar matching the description of Bret Michaels' missing guitar
to the bar manager. The anonymous delivery was accompanied by a note addressed
to The Loop stating, "Return to owner by 11/21." The guitar was brought
back to The Loop's studios for the night.[see full story for more]-

News: J.Lo Got Too Much Back |
Ananova reports: [Might as well kick off the

J-Lo's bum was too big for her skimpy outfit.
The singer failed to squeeze into her sexy

of leather onto the outfit to cover the star's curvy bottom, according

Metal-Rules reports: SHADOWS FALL Pass The
100,000 SoundScan Mark Again
SHADOWS FALL latest effort, The War Within,
has just passed the 100,000 mark via U.S. Nielsen SoundScan sales, in just
under an impressive eight weeks. This accomplishment is a further testament
to the band's undying work ethic and current genre status, as it took their
previous album, The Art of Balance, two years to reach this sales plateau.
This benchmark achievement comes off the heels of the commercial radio
success of their latest single "What Drives The Weak" and massive co-headlining
U.S. tour alongside Damageplan and The Haunted, which wraps up on December

A18
Return |
press release reports: Six years is well beyond
the average life expectancy of most hardcore bands, especially when you
tally two full length CDs, three EPs, shows in over twenty different countries,
literally hundreds of interviews and a live set that often leaves the stage
decorated with blood and broken instruments. Welcome A18. With a resume
reading like a who's who of Southern California hardcore, A18 formed from
the ashes of the region's most popular hardcore bands, A Chorus of Disapproval,
Instead, Outspoken and Strife. After a brief hiatus A18 are happy to announce
the return of longtime vocalist Isaac Golub.
Co-produced by Paul Miner (Throwdown, Terror,
Atreyu) Dear Furious is a mix of passion, anger, energy and unbridled rage
that assaults the senses. After recording Foreverafternothing with Paul
in 2002, A18 chose to bring his great studio knowledge and experience producing
some of the greatest hardcore bands to bear on the new project. During
the year prior, the band had issued themselves a challenge to surpass all
previous recordings. Their tour schedule provided the live performance
time needed, that combined with two months of pre-production, their hard
work paid off. "We've had the time to really hone our songs into the quintessential
A18 anthems, instead of sacrificing quality for a lack of time or recording
budget," Mike commented. A18 entered the studio after the last leg of their
most recent tour of Europe with The Hope Conspiracy and Darkest Hour. [see
