Doherty Avoids Jail Again
antiMusic reports: It's Wednesday, must be time to report that Pete Doherty has once again escaped jail. That's right, as we reported yesterday (and numerous times in the past) Doherty was arrested on drug charges this week thus violating the conditions of his bail (for another drug charge) but because of a legal technicality, Doherty remains free to be arrested for another drug charge.

Normally, if you are out of bail and get arrested, you'll find yourself behind bars for violating said bail conditions. Not if you're Pete Doherty. Police screwed up and didn't produce Doherty in court within 24 hours to face the bail violation charges. So those charges have been dropped.

Perhaps he signed a deal with the devil to get out of all of his numerous drug busts, or UK courts view drug laws like US officials view immigration laws, inconveniences to be ignored? Police issued a statement about this latest screw up. "Senior officers from Tower Hamlets are currently reviewing processes to establish why Mr Doherty was unable to be brought before the court within the 24-hour time frame.

"It would be inappropriate to go into any further detail until the MPS is absolutely clear about the exact sequence of events." - Read about why he was out on bail in the first place.

Pietasters Return
PR reports: Today, soul-ska pioneers The Pietasters release their new studio album, All Day (Indication Records / RedEye USA). This marks the band's first release in five years. Produced by Todd Harris (James Brown), All Day displays an impeccably refined Pietasters: soul-drenched and in fine songwriting form.

The band releases All Day in Japan on August 24, 2007 on Ska in the World/Disk Union. The album's Japanese release will feature three bonus tracks, including a cover of Teenage Fanclub's "The Concept." Despite 2 previous album releases in Japan (Willis in 1997 and Awesome Mix Tape #6 in 1999, both on Hellcat/Epitaph), The Pietasters will make their tour debut in The Land of the Rising Sun this fall 2007. Also this fall, the band will tour throughout Europe in support of the album's UK/European release. Look for the band's video "Don't Wanna Know" to be available soon.

Chuck Ragan Between the Lines
PR reports: Musical troubadour Chuck Ragan's song "Between the Lines" off his new album Feast or Famine will be featured in the upcoming documentary of the same name. Between the Lines is due out early 2008. In addition, Ragan has confirmed a month long European tour with stops in Frankfurt, Berlin, Cologne and Vienna September 12 October 14 with special guest Muff Potter on select dates.

The song "Between the Lines" came to fruition after Ragan met with directors Ty Ponder and Scott Bass through a mutual friend. Following a day-long surf trip and a briefing on the film, Ragan took books of transcribed interviews home, and days later delivered a song interpreting the Vietnam War and its effects on two men's lives, thoughts and balances; the natural born fighter and the natural born peace maker.

"For me I believe the most important part of seeing this film and having the opportunity to write a song for it, was the learning," says Ragan.- more on this story including dates

Skate Rockers McRad Reunite
PR reports: While McRad may not be a household name and the same may hold true for the brains behind the operation Chuck Treece, it is almost certain that you've heard Treece's playing before. A jack of all trades in the truest sense of the term, the multi-talented Treece, has played bass on Billy Joel's "River Of Dreams," played drums for Bad Brains and G. Love and Special Sauce, and began his career as a professional skateboarder in 1982.

FDR, named after the famous Philadelphia skate park, is due out on September 4 on Uprising Records and is the first new material from McRad in over twenty years and it picks up right where the band previously left off. Much has changed in the world since McRad first formed from the internet to iPods to plasma TV's but McRad still plays the same brand of skate punk that has earned them place on the soundtrack to skateboarding's history.

Formed in 1982, shortly after Treece earned his first skate sponsorship, McRad has had music featured in skate video staples such as Public Domain, Ban This, and Propaganda. Unfortunately, McRad would only last one album. In 1990, Chuck Treece would leave skate boarding to record his lone solo project Dream'n for Caroline Records. This album helped to open the door for Treece to venture into the world of studio work for the likes of Sting, Amy Grant, and The Goats among others.

Grand Ole Party Supporting Rilo Kiley
PR reports: As a trio with a brassy front-woman the comparisons are sure to come aplenty, but San Diego's Grand Ole Party are forging their own place in rock 'n' roll with their unique mix of garage-blues, rock and raw energy.

They recorded their debut album, Humanimals, in March 2007 with Blake Sennet (Rilo Kiley, The Elected) over a five-day stretch of live recording, which perfectly captured the stripped-down power that embodies the Grand Ole Party sound.

Humanimals will be released September 4 exclusively on iTunes with bonus track "Shot In The Alley," but the band will also be selling CDs at their upcoming shows opening for Rilo Kiley.- more on this story

New Travis Mitchell Band CD in September
PR reports: Dallas-based quartet the Travis Mitchell Band is releasing their next album, "Waiting On Tomorrow," on September 25th. The release will be preceded by a digital single featuring the tracks "I Don't Mind" and "Ever Again," which hits download portals on August 21st.

Earlier this year, the band headed down to Gautier, Mississippi to record "Waiting On Tomorrow," their sophomore record, with Grammy-nominated artist Chris Henderson of the rock band 3 Doors Down.

The album, which Mitchell says is a "Nashville/Texas country mix," was completed in a rather hectic 22 days of pre-production, writing and recording. "I feel like this is the first time I've found my voice and my sound," says Mitchell. And that sound is quite versatile, as evidenced by the mix of honky-tonk, ballads, and rock-infused alt-country peppering the new album.- more on this story

White Shoes and the Couples Company Get US Release
PR reports: Swinging in on a cloud from way out, White Shoes and the Couples Company are bringing their mix of orchestral pieces, clap-along pop tunes, and dandelion-delicate love songs to the United States for the very first time.

Not that a few people in the U.S. haven't already taken notice; White Shoes was named one of the Top 25 Bands on MySpace by Rolling Stone and One of the Most Crushworthy Bands of 2006 by AllMusic.com. Their self-titled debut is due out on Minty Fresh as a digital release on September 25th and on CD in October.

Hailing from Indonesia, this sextet makes pop songs that you'd be excused for thinking had come straight off the soundtrack of Katamari Damacy, or a tender Sonny Chiba movie.- more on this story
