Ferry Does Dylan
PR reports: Fulfilling a long-held dream, BRYAN FERRY will release a full album of classic songs written by Bob Dylan in early spring. The album, titled DYLANESQUE, is scheduled for release on Capitol Music Group on June 19, 2007.

The album, Ferry's 12th solo project, was largely recorded in one week with his touring band in the studio, resulting in a warm, live, acoustic sound. Among the songs recorded for the album are such definitive songs of the singer-songwriter canon as "The Times They Are A-Changin'," "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues," "Simple Twist of Fate" and "All I Really Want To Do." Aside from his songs of the Sixties and Seventies, Ferry also includes "Make You Feel My Love," from Dylan's acclaimed 1997 album Time Out of Mind. "The singer in me is overjoyed to be singing these songs," Ferry said recently.

G.B.H. Race Against Time
PR reports: G.B.H. 'Race Against Time: The Clay Years' (3 CDs) is released by Sanctuary Records on March 13, 2007. Like Iron Maiden G.B.H. is credited for helping create thrash metal. The influential, long-lived punk metal band rose to prominence in England during the early '80s when hardcore punk inched toward heavy metal. Formed in 1979 in Birmingham, England, G.B.H. took their name from the criminal offence. In August 1981 they released their hard-hitting debut EP, Leather, Bristles, Studs & Acne on Clay Records. In O82 they released their debut album, City Baby Attacked by Rats. Two years later their second album City Baby's Revenge was released in O84. They continued recording and releasing albums through the '80s, G.B.H. soldiered on, recording new albums throughout the '90s and into the next millennium. By this point the band was often cited by both metal and punk bands as a huge influence, and a renewed interest in G.B.H.'s early recordings resulted. Race Against Time is a 3 CD collection of the entire G.B.H Clay recordings, 2 studio albums, 1 EP and all the singles releases from the period. Also included is the live, No Survivors album, originally released years after the band left the Clay label. It is now available again as disc three of the box set. The booklet is filled with photos, emorabilia and detailed liner notes. The set is packaged in a 5x5 mini collector's style set. The 3 CD set is a fine intro to one of the '80s more underrated punk bands. Many a mosh pit has been started over the years to the punk anthems "Time Bomb," and "War Dogs".[see full story for tracklisting]- Click Here for the Full Story

New Atlantic Debut
PR reports: New Jersey's New Atlantic has no problem embracing their penchant for pop. Refusing to mask their melodies and hooks with any sort of genre-splicing, the quintet crafts irresistible and infectious songs in which even the smallest of details has been scrutinized and polished. The tell all sign of masterful pop writing, one that New Atlantic undoubtedly carries, is making such a difficult process sound so natural and easy. Their debut full length, "The Streets, The Sound, And The Love" is slated to be released April 10th on Eyeball Records

Sick of Rap
Jam! reports: Maybe it was the umpteenth coke-dealing anthem or soft-porn music video. Perhaps it was the preening antics that some call reminiscent of Stepin Fetchit. The turning point is hard to pinpoint. But after 30 years of growing popularity, rap music is now struggling with an alarming sales decline and growing criticism from within about the culture's negative effect on society.

Rap insider Chuck Creekmur, who runs the leading Web site Allhiphop.com, says he got a message from a friend recently "asking me to hook her up with some Red Hot Chili Peppers because she said she's through with rap. A lot of people are sick of rap ... the negativity is just over the top now."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Today's Reviews
....The Cat Empire - Two Shoes (Artist of the Month)
In the liner notes, the band declares, "we found ourselves with a record that is alive." They aren't kidding about that. From the outset, this album is alive with wave after wave of sound. This band incorporates soul, rock, ska, and Latin influences into their sound. (4.5 stars) - Read the full The Cat Empire - Two Shoes review

....Michael Franti & Spearhead: A Leap of Faith (Artist of the Month)
A few months back a friend and colleague told me of Michael Franti and called him the "Modern Marley"... I went out and bought "Yell Fire" and to my great surprise, the praise my mentor threw upon him was more than well deserved. - Read the full Michael Franti & Spearhead: A Leap of Faith review

....Forgotten Land - A Forest is Myne Home
Forgotten Land is full of epic grandeur and starry-eyed wonder; the melodies are thematically exquisite (this is loosely inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit in another Summoning coincidence) and memorable to boot. - Read the full Forgotten Land - A Forest is Myne Home review
