PR reports: Fresh from performing alongside The Killers, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Cat Power and MSTRKRFT at The Echo Project in Atlanta this weekend, San Francisco-based party starters Scissors For Lefty will join the rollicking Juliette and the Licks as main support for an extensive national tour. The band will make a stop at the CMJ Music Marathon in N.Y. for a performance at the regional showcase SF @ CMJ at the Ace of Clubs, Oct. 18.

A mix of high-energy enthusiasm, unpredictable stage antics, tongue-in-cheek lyricism and the band's self-described "pillow-talk pop," Scissors For Lefty's live show has been winning over fans from their hometown to the U.K. and beyond. The band will be documenting these infectious shows and giving fans a glimpse into life on the road with a daily live streaming videocast presented by lifecasting website Justin.tv.

Each night of the tour a different member of Scissors For Lefty will don a camera to record the action from his point of view on the stage, backstage, in the van, and anywhere else they may go.- more on this story

The Shake's Manic Boogie Online
PR reports: In the middle of a New York City summer heat wave, THE SHAKE took steps to set the music scene a-sizzle. On the hottest Sunday of the summer, the band (lead singer/guitarist Jon Merkin, lead guitarist Eliad Shapiro, bass player Jeremy Stein and drummer Andrew McNellis) filmed their debut music video at Context Studios in Brooklyn for the song "Manic Boogie." The long hours and scalding temperatures contributed to turning the song's title into a reality. The band's spirits were buoyed on that hot day by a chance meeting with the group Spoon, rehearsing in the next studio. The musicians all bonded over the fact that THE SHAKE are featured in the Summer 2007 issue of Magnet Magazine for which Spoon are pictured on the cover.

The concept for the "Manic Boogie" video came from the mind of video director Powell Weaver. From the first time he heard the band's debut CD Kick It, Weaver was excited to work with a band as energetic sounding as THE SHAKE. "The band's live show is so high energy that I wanted to make sure it was captured in the video," says Weaver. "The concept portrays the guys in a truly 'manic' way, running all around the set, bouncing up and down with enormous energy, all the while playing the song live."

To achieve a look that is both brand new and sure to capture the viewer's attention while commanding repeat viewings, a camera technique was employed using the natural straight lines of a variety of picture frames. "We set up the band members and their equipment, and then hung blue frames directly in front of the camera in interesting compositions," explains Weaver. "We then shot one still plate of nothing happening in frame for about ten seconds followed by a few takes of the band rocking out. Through the magic of video, the shots of the bands were placed within the frames." Every setup was a painstaking process: "In order to achieve the desired effect, it was crucial that none of the frames or equipment moved at all over the course of the filming of each setup - only the band members could move, which certainly wasn't a problem for a band as lively THE SHAKE," commented Weaver. The video can be viewed- here

Generation Yoni?
PR reports: We've heard enough about Generations X and Yget ready for Generation Yoni. Thanks to his angsty, edgy modern rock anthem "Twentysomething," the Florida based singer-songwriter is boldly giving voice to the frustration of his peers, ambitious and restless college grads eager to conquer the world but running into roadblocks and hairpin curves along the way. [aka generation "Poor Me"]

Yoni's recently released full-length debut album Extra Credit features a re-mastered version of this track and two other songs from Ready For More, "Tales of Higher Learning" and his cool pop/punk libertarian rant "Let The Devil Know," which will be played in the final scene/end credits of the upcoming indie film "One-Eyed Monster" starring Ron Jeremy. "Twentysomething" is scheduled to be included on Episode 7 in the latest season of PBS's Roadtrip Nation.- more on this story

Dubfire DIY
PR reports: Dubfire (aka Ali Shirazinia)-- one half of the Grammy Award winning and four-time nominated electronic music duo Deep Dish -- is pleased to announce the launch of his new digital label, Science + Technology Digital Audio [SCI + TEC]. The label will act as an exclusive outlet for Dubfire's original productions and a home for up and coming artists from around the globe.

The launch of SCI + TEC comes at a time of immense change and artistic growth for Dubfire. As heard on his recent Taipei mix compilation for Global Underground, Dubfire has shifted his attention towards a mix of darker, deeper music that first inspired him while growing up in the Washington, DC area. The crown jewel of Taipei was Dubfire's cover of Love & Rockets' "I Feel Speed," a track that featured his own vocals and perfectly showcased his constantly evolving sound. It will be released as a single in November on SCI+TEC. Cutting-edge producers Audion [Matthew Dear], Booka Shade and UNKLE have been tapped to remix the track these mixes will be available in December. - more on this story
