Feds Speak Out on Death Cab Seizure
Filter reports: When US Customs seized Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla's hard drive at the Canadian/US border last week, an upset Walla quickly gave the media his side of the story. Now it's time for the government to offer their side.

In an interview with MTV.com, US Customs and Border Protection rep, Mike Milne explained that the seizing of Walla's hard drive was nothing but "standard operating procedure".

Claiming exaggeration on the media's part, Milne stated that the hard drive was confiscated for being "commercial merchandise", not for the supposed claim of musical censorship. Milne is even calling for the Associated Press, Barsuk (Walla's label) and Walla himself to clear up the misunderstanding.- more on this story

Mavericks Again
PR reports: Mavericks, the 1991 duo album by Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey, will be reissued on January 15, 2008 on Collectors' Choice Music. The re-mastered new version of the album will contain six previously unreleased tracks, making it indispensable even for those who own the original Rhino recording.

Holsapple and Stamey had previously worked together as charter members of the dB's in the early '80s, creating two acclaimed albums: Stands for DeciBels and Repercussion. When Stamey left the band to focus on his solo career, Holsapple kept the band together for two more albums prior to departing to form the Continental Drifters. In the summer of '90, they came together once again to record Mavericks in their old stomping grounds of Hoboken, N.J., mixing at Bearsville Studio in Woodstock, N.Y.

Holsapple and Stamey produced the album themselves and welcomed several guest musicians of note: Jane Scarpantoni, (Tiny Lights, Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M.), Chris Butler (The Waitresses and veteran producer), Gene Holder (The dB's), Dave Schramm (The Schramms), Ilene Markell (7 Deadly 5, Wednesday Week) and Michael Blair (Tom Waits).- more on this story

Mailbag: Bon Jovi Fans In And Out Of Love With Fan Club
antiMusic reports: As promised we are going to let the members themselves have the final word about the Bon Jovi fanclub. We were contacted by several members, many with problems with the club and a few that have no problems with how it is run. Here are some of those emails but be warned this is rather long since we are running most of what they sent to us:

LK starts off with this email: As a current member of RipOffWithJBJ, I'd like to question the top ticket price you've quoted in your article. Top price is, in fact, $3000. It includes dinner with the stage crew. Forgive me if I'm totally underwhelmed. Dinner on a Backstabbers event consists of a finger buffet, if you're lucky. At the O2 event in London, they even forgot to arrange that!

Matt Bongiovi now heads-up the fan club, having taken over from his mother last year when she retired. Fans are now secondary to the mighty dollar and ticket sales have become a scalpers playground. Fans are being shut out of sales by inadequate servers and staff incompetence. If you make any complaint on the site, you are banned. If you PM the management team, you are ignored as your PM is not read. If you e-mail the management team, you are ignored. The new fc ethos is "This is the way it is, so tough!"

Sad to see a once great fan club die, but that's what's happening. More and more fans are either refusing to renew memberships or being banned out of hand for daring to voice an opinion. I personally will not be renewing. I can't afford to pay both fc dues and a huge mark-up on prices. European ticket prices have been rising for many years but, if the New Zealand show prices are anything to go by, Bon Jovi are no longer a blue-collar band who keep prices affordable. Jon Bon Jovi has always said that the last word on all things band related is his. Does he not have enough money in the bank? Does he now need to rip-off the fans who made him? Thank you for bringing this situation to the attention of the ticket-buying public. Someone has to! - more emails from Bon Jovi Fan Club members
