10 Years Vs TMZ
Total Assault reports: TMZ are ya' out there???? Universal Republic Records' signature rock band 10 Years have just unveiled the world premiere of their new video, "Beautiful," from their soon-to-be released album, Division, (due in-stores May 13) on the Universal Republic music site, UniversalRepublic.com, on Monday April 21 at 4pm EST/1pm PST.

The clip, directed by Paul Boyd (The Cult, Blind Melon), revels in its satirical look at the co-dependent atmosphere spawned by the Lindsay-to-Britney-to-Paris media-merry-go-round that has swept up the paparazzi and American tabloid culture.

The female lead in the new clip is none other than Rebecca Ginos, significant other of Maroon 5 lead vocalist Adam Levine. - Check out the video here

Night Ranger Releasing First Studio CD in a Decade
ABC reports: There are a lot of reasons to celebrate the July 1 release of Night Ranger's HOLE IN THE SUN, notably that it marks the band's first studio album in a decade and commemorates the pioneering hard rock outfit's 25th anniversary as a band. The best reason, as has been the case throughout Night Ranger's heralded career, is to celebrate the music itself.

"People will hear this record and recognize our dual blazing guitars and vocals, and big choruses and melodic verses, because that's definitely how you can describe this album," explains singer/bassist Jack Blades of the self-produced new release, the band's eighth studio album, and first for VH1 Classic Records. "It's new Night Ranger, but in a lot of ways it's classic Night Ranger."

"We wanted to sound new, but still keep our roots," says Keagy of the new release. "We grew up in the '70s, when pop music was really starting to thrive. Sometimes it drove you crazy because the songs were so poppy that you couldn't get them out of your head, but they were still amazing songs. We wanted to portray some of that on this album."

Def Leppard Canceling More Shows and Playing Games
antiMusic reports: More Def Leppard show cancellations have been announced. This is bad news for Indian fans, but they also announced some good news for fans that like to play games. Here is the statement: "We are sorry to report that due to unforseen circumstances, the two Indian shows that were supposed to take place in Bangalore and Mumbai on May 16 and 18, have been postponed. At this moment, the band is working on rescheduling these shows for dates in the fall. Our apologies to all our fans in India!"

In other news, Def Leppard have partnered with Activision Inc.'s Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on an epic three-song track pack that will give fans an exclusive opportunity to sample the band's #1 new radio single, 'Nine Lives' five days before their upcoming studio album Songs From The Sparkle Lounge releases on April, 29, 2008. The single is the result of Def Leppard's groundbreaking collaboration with country music legend Tim McGraw, and will be featured on their highly anticipated upcoming record Songs From The Sparkle Lounge, the band's first new studio release since 2006's Yeah, which begins yet another remarkable new chapter in the band's 30-year recording career.

The track pack also features live versions of 'Photograph' and 'Rock Of Ages', two of Def Leppard's most beloved chart-toppers from their multi-platinum Pyromania album. - more on this story

Jethro Tull's Jack In The Green DVD
Kayos reports: After the commercially and artistically successful Live At Montreux 2003 DVD, Eagle Rock Entertainment, on May 20, will release Jethro Tull's Jack In The Green: Live In Germany, an enticing DVD compendium of in-concert rarities [running time: 96 minutes] spanning the years 1970 to 1993.

The main bulk of the action here centers around 1982 and 1986. It's amazing to think that this band, led by the redoubtable and enigmatic Ian Anderson, confronting its 40th Anniversary later this year, has never really took any extended time off. Constantly active, one of the most globally enduring and endearing bands of all time, Tull has the kind of international fan base that follows them around the globe. Like the Deadheads of old, Tullheads are no less passionate. Tull shows are like a family celebration of life and longevity. And these shows exhibit those good vibes in spades!

Late Night Aiken
antiMusic reports: If you're a bit underwhelmed by the current crop of American Idols, an old favorite is returning to your television screen and you won't have to put up with Paula to watch. Which favorite is it? It's the guy who's fans sent over dozens emails to let us know that their hero was going to be back on TV. That's right, it's Clay Aiken and he's going on a late night TV blitz to promote his new album.

Claymates will make a run on record retailers on May 6th, when Aiken's new album, 'On My Way Here,' is released and the following week he'll make two late night appearances to promote it.

First up, he'll head over to Burbank to appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on May 12th and then he'll make an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show on May 15th. We received conflicting information from the fans that wrote in about the Kimmel appearance. Some said Clay was performing and others said he wasn't. So we fired off an email to the show's publicist and she confirmed that "Clay Aiken is booked for an interview" only. The musical guest on that night will be Dierks Bentley. - She also kindly sent over a list of upcoming musical guests.

Save Money on Mother's Day and Give Mom A Free Song
PR reports: How many of us in our busy lives have that moment when we realize that Mother's Day is upon us and we've not gotten the card in the mail or the flowers ordered? No head slap needed because MacGeraghty, best known as front man and ringleader for San Francisco's legendary rock & power-pop band, The Gun & Doll Show, recently released a collection of songs that include the catchy and memorable not-to-mention free download-able "Happy Mother's Day" from his Celebration Songs CD (Glitter and Glue Publishing).

In the short time since its release, "Happy Mother's Day", has been downloaded over 85,000 times. He's on to something for sure. MacGeraghty reflects on what inspired him to write a song about mothers saying:

"I come from a family of five kids, so I know it takes tireless devotion, non-stop effort and the patience of an angel to be a mother. As kids, my brothers and sisters and I took for granted that we were always provided for even when times were tough, and naturally we didn't know to be thankful. I always wanted to make some kind of tribute to mothers everywhere. So I'm so glad this song is traveling on its own steam. Mothers are so deserving." - "Happy Mother's Day" song download

The Orb Have a Dream
PR reports: The Orb have set a release for their new album, "The Dream," which will hit stores on June 17th. Who are The Orb? We'll let their PR answer that with this- Q: What do Killing Joke, KLF, Primal Scream and The Cult all have in common? A: In some way all of the above have been intertwined or have sporned from one of the UK's most groundbreaking and soul affirming ambient house music duos of our time. Pioneers who paved the way throughout some of the 1980's and much of the 1990's during a time when hallucinogenics and free love were the foundations for the nightclub and music loving masses. Innovative artists such as The Orb provided the concrete and a soundtrack that solidified an entire culture and generation who embraced a time when ecstacy was still good and the beats just kept on coming.

The Orb's music speaks the language of the psyche and of the soul. Various "psychedelic soldiers" of our time have been given their comeuppance in recent years. Many new acts have quite rightly tipped their hats in the form of their sonic creations, toward those who have inspired them during the birth and boom of rave and electronic music. - more on this story

Mailbag: Gay Illiteracy Problem- Cold Bed Play- The Audacity of Hype and more
antiMusic reports: PeterWentzlover wanted us to know that he/she didn't read what we actually wrote last week about Pete Wentz denying that he knocked up Ashlee Simpson. For those that missed that article, we poked a little fun at what Pete told MTV when we wrote, "Wentz told MTV in part, 'I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover.' Which would make it kind of interesting to find out how Ashlee got knocked up. The gay thing was (a Freudian slip?) what he used as an example of the false reports that you'll read in the tabloids and it's all part of a vast conspiracy underfoot in the tab press. 'There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood,' Wentz wrote to MTV."

PeterWentzlover had this to say, "This just proves how bad the media is he actually said ' i can't wait to see what other rumors will spill about me like how i'm in a gay relationship and this is all a cover' wow they got it all wrong!"

Normally we could somewhat understand PeterWentzlover's misunderstanding, had it not been for the next paragraph in our article, "For lawyers and dumbasses, we intentionally took Wentz's 'gay' quote out of context for humor value and to help make his point. We don't know, nor care, if Pete is a homosexual or if Ashlee is with child. - Now go read the quote in context at MTV if you actually care about either."

PeterWentzlover, please try and read more carefully in the future to prevent more misunderstandings. And for the record, here is what Wentz actually said "There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood. This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. ... I mean really, this is crazy. ... I mean we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it."

Cold Bed Play

This one is for the girlfriend, not a reader. She threatened to withhold after reading last week's article about the new Coldplay album. So please mentally replace the line "Here are the tracks that did make the final cut, or as we like to say '10 Reasons To Avoid The New Coldplay CD'" with "Here are Reasons To Drop Everything and Buy The New Coldplay CD". Hope that works. Not a big fan of the color blue.

The Audacity of Hype

A couple regular reader wrote in about our coverage of the Motley Crue tour announcement. They think we may have overdone the mocking just a bit. We'll grant them that, but we were simply making fun of all the hype surrounding this tour. And our joking coverage was actually far less than if we had printed every press release that was sent to us from various "PR" sources (check some other music sites for ALL of those, seems like every fifth story this past week was about Motley). But for the record, we're pretty much done now with the joke. (Unless additional hype still floods our inboxes. Then we might have to poke a little more fun). In all seriousness, we wish them a successful tour and hope the fans have fun and get what they pay for. We'll now turn our event coverage back to other "big" tours happening this summer and try and leave the Crue out of it.

Queer Eye For the Webguy

Thanks to everyone that wrote in to compliment our new design. We rather like ourselves. Normally when we do a redesign we'll hear from a couple dozen people with complaints, but this time only one person sent in an angry missive (with complaints about the layout.) He was correct, there were a couple tweaks needed so people that use old screen resolutions (circa Window 95 era) could read the site properly. The layout was set up to accommodate the majority of websurfers, but we did miss a critical piece of code that would make the text legible for those with older monitors or resolutions. That was quickly fixed and we are still tweaking older articles and areas of the site to comply with the new design. But if you run into any problems with the new layout, please let us know so we can fix it.

Sales and Rumors of Sales

Someone sold antiMusic to a major record label for millions and forgot to tell us! We learned on Friday that the first part is apparently a rumor that is making the rounds. We were as shocked to hear this as Pete Wentz was to read that he would soon be a daddy. A couple of other sites were purchased recently by another company that a major label has invested in, but that wasn't us. For one, if a label was holding our purse strings the readers couldn't trust our coverage so you'd have a new editor because I couldn't go for that deal. Besides they didn't offer enough money (according to this rumor). A rumor about us selling out seems to surface once or twice a year and our response is the same: We have not been sold. But if anyone out there really has millions that you want to part with, we might be convinced to "sellout" and turn anti over to a corporate salesperson and then - take on this project. (everyone has a price)
