Karyn Crisis Plots Solo Return
PR reports: Karyn Crisis is now working on her debut solo album. Crisis have been one of the most influential acts of the extreme metal scene, and Karin's voice was something unique and never heard at that time, and still is, after 4 studio albums. After the split of Crisis, Karyn moved away from the music business and dedicated herself to different forms of art, visual and painting, and to Reiki and Shamanism.

"At the beginning of 2006 I embarked on a Vision Quest. My goals: to get as far away from the music business as possible, and to delve as deeply as possible into myself to find out what I'm really made of all on my own." says Karyn "There, I found and embraced my shaman within. In doing so, music took me by the hand and brought me, full circle, to where I stood as I joined Crisis in 1993: on the threshold of using my voice as a means of empowerment. This is why I'm beginning my solo career now: it's part of my journey, it's part of my purpose, and... it's my time."

The album will be recorded at the beginning of 2009 in Italy and will be producer by Eraldo Bernocchi for Rare Noise LTD. Bernocchi is an eclectic producer who started his career in the mid 80's with industrial extreme act Sigillum S and moved to different musical directions working with artists like Bill Laswell, Mick Harris (Scorn), Thomas Fehlmann (The Orb), Zu, Nils Petter Molaver, Toshinori Kondo and many others in more than 100 records. - more on this story

Satan Goes Back To Court
MMP reports: Satan's classic debut "Court in the Act," is being reissued in a new digipack edition includes 3 bonus tracks. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc, limited to numerated 1000 copies. Metal Mind Productions will release the album on 24th November in Europe and 20th January 2009 in USA (via MVD).

Satan is one of the most important groups that emerged in the early NWOBHM era. Their unique mixture of heavy and power metal spirit with thrash riffage brought a handful of unforgettable tunes and revolutionized heavy music as we know it. "Court in the Act" is their debut release and in the same time their highlight. Ten tracks (including the intro) and over 40 minutes of music that was absolutely groundbreaking for a 1983 release.

Satan managed to come up with a sound that was way ahead of their own time. The songs were melodic, but in the same time very aggressive a sign of an upcoming revolution. Both guitarists, Russ Tippins and Steve Ramsey, delivered a truly amazing performance although their styles were completely different, the duo managed to perfectly balance their playing and introduce a handful of timeless riffs and solos. - more on this story

Damon Castillo Band Visit Laurel Lane
PR reports: The Damon Castillo Band released their new 13-track album, Laurel Lane, November 4th. Combining the talent of Kristian Ducharme on keys, Jennings Jacobsen on drums, and Larry Kim on saxophone with Damon Castillo's prolific songwriting, vocals, and guitar chops, the band creates a sound that is a statement among this day of manufactured music. Each member is a master-musician with a diverse past playing jazz, funk, rock, and soul. Their prowess comes through on every note, dynamically punctuating Damon's soulful lyrics, at times mournful, and often larger than life.

Grammy-Award-Winner, Ross Hogarth, produced the record and special guest musicians include: Sheila E., Rami Jaffe (Wallflowers, Foo Fighters), Lee Thornburg (Tower of Power, Supertramp), Lon Price (Elvis Presley, Alan Toussaint, Ziggy Marley) and Sean Hurley (Alicia Keys, John Mayer).

Damon describes the process of taking their unique sound and "distilling" it down for the album, "Duke Ellington had it right when he said, 'If it sounds good, it IS good.' The guys and I don't care about genres or style linesIt's nothing that I consciously maneuver; I just try to make it feel right." More than anything, the record is a throw-back to the old days, when artists played their own music in a studio and created songs that were enjoyable not only for their passion, but also for their honesty. "It's not the homogenized production where you can't hear the music. You will hear real musicians playing real tunes," says Damon.

. The Biz: AC/DC: For Those About To Rock... We Reward You
A few months back when the announcement was made that AC/DC's 'Black Ice' would have a retail price of 11.99 at Wal-Mart, I lamented about how it was a stupid and foolish move on the band's part and how it would ultimately cost them sales. I was wrong. - Read the full AC/DC: For Those About To Rock... We Reward You op/ed
