Asia Members Regroup for iCon 3 Project
PR reports: The core songwriting duo behind rock supergroup Asia's greatest hits, John Wetton and Geoffrey Downes, have regrouped for iCon 3, available on Frontiers Records.

While Asia was on a temporary hiatus, fans demanded more from Wetton and Downes. The duo took advantage of a short break from international touring in 2008 to write and record their third iCon studio album. The cover art is based on the OM symbol, a universal syllable not specific to one religion, meaning "everything" as a reflection the diverse nature of the album's musical offering.

On the record, the pure power of Downes' keyboards and Wetton's jaw-dropping voice and stellar bass playing are enhanced by performances by guitar virtuoso Dave Kilminster, fresh from successful tours with Roger Waters and Keith Emerson and former ELO cellist Hugh McDowell, whose unique sound has helped frame all three iCon studio releases. Rounding out the band is Pete Riley, whose work with Keith Emerson, Kilminster and extensive live and session work shows an extraordinary breadth and depth of style. - more on this story

Frightened Rabbit Coming To North America
PR reports: Frightened Rabbit will emerge from their Scottish burrow for a handful of shows this summer, including Village Voice's Siren Festival in New York, July 18 and the Pitch Dork Music Festival in Chicago, July 19.

The band is currently back home writing the follow-up to their highly lauded sophomore LP, The Midnight Organ Fight, but will take time out to perform alongside the Flaming Lips, Built to Spill, The Raveonettes, Grizzly Bear and many others at the back-to-back festivals. Their return to the U.S. will be rounded out with a run of headline gigs throughout the East Coast and Midwest as well as Canada.

The foursome, who honed their explosive live show with extensive touring in the States last year, has remained mum about whether they will be road testing any new material. However, Rainn Wilson from NBC's "The Office" has not been silent about his love for the lads' anthemic indie pop. "Dwight Schrute" tweeted his adoration for the Rabbits on his Twitter last week to his more than 635,000 followers, proclaiming: "Best album of last year? Easy. Frightened Rabbit. (Thanks, Krasinski!)." It's good to see that Dwight and Jim's rivalry doesn't carry over to real life after all... or maybe it was Frightened Rabbit that brought them together. - more on this story

Cannes International Film Festival To Include Italy Earthquake Benefit
PR reports: The 2009 Cannes International Film Festival will include a benefit to honor the earthquake victims in Abruzzo, Italy consisting of a powerful film presentation with musical performance and cocktail reception. It will take place on May 20, 2009 at 3pm.

Members of the film industry, artists and citizens of the world will gather at the benefit for the world premiere of the film and musical concert "CANTO 6409", a 22' film that was created and directed by Dino Viani, an independent filmmaker who participated in festivals around the year, including the Biennale of Venice last year. The film will be accompanied by a live performance by contemporary music composer Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta, who collaborated with John Cage between 1986 and 1992 and remains as composer for Merce Cunningham in New York City.

The music was elaborated inside Virtual Reality. The director, Dino Viani, living in the region of the earthquake, was the only film maker to chronicle the rare images of the immediate aftermath of the seismic disaster into an emotionally moving poetic montage. Viani and Pimenta have collaborated before creating both film and music according to the principles of independent artwork as established by the French dramaturge Antonin Artaud in the beginning of the twenty-century and followed by John Cage, Merce Cunningham and Robert Raushenberg among others. - more on this story

. Depswa - Distorted American Dream
The disc flows along with the sound youd expect from Depswa. Stinging but melodic guitars and thundering drums with Jeremy Penicks insistent vocals cementing everything together (4 stars) - Read the full Depswa - Distorted American Dream review

. Reflections - When Shadows Fall
Cruz Del Sur Records definitely carries some of the best metal bands around, but Reflections does not fit in quite well in terms of substance. Sure they exercise that epic attitude often found within the label's usual groups, but this band simply is not enjoyable. - Read the full Reflections - When Shadows Fall review
