CBS was the big ratings winner this past Sunday night after millions tuned in to watch the two-hour finale of "Survivor: Pearl Islands," where Sandra Diaz-Twine took the title of Sole Survivor and took home $1 million in prize money.

Ratings estimates from Sunday night put Survivor far ahead of the pact. The conclusion of the seventh season for the franchise drew in 25.4 million viewers and earned 9.6 rating/22 share in the adults 18-49 demographic. The hour-long reunion show that ran immediately afterwards came away with 22.7 million viewers and 9.5/22 share in the 18-49 year-old range.

It helped that the other networks didnt have any heavy hitting competition running against the reality show. NBC came in second with its made-for-tv movie "Secret Santa" which drew in 12.5 million viewers. Fox came in a steady third from 8-9:30 with "The Simpsons" (11.2 million), "The Bernie Mac Show" (9.3 million) and "Malcolm in the Middle" (8.9 million), but it looks like many viewers switched over at 9:30 because ratings for "Arrested Development" dropped to 6.2 million.

CBS is hoping for a very successful 8th season of Survivor, when the franchise returns in February. They are putting a new twist on the show next season by bringing back contestants from previous seasons to compete in an all-star version of the game.
