And now for something completely different
On a hundred acre farm in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, the relaxed atmosphere of the Long View Farm Studios was the perfect setting for SOCRATIC'S opus. At the helm, producer John Goodmanson (Hot Hot Heat, Sleater-Kinney, The Blood Brothers) who was a perfect fit for the band's first studio album. They decided the record should be a big sounding album, but still maintain a rawness. A rock n' roll record with a message. An
eccentric album that is exciting to listen to. Beautiful and fulfilling, Lunch For The Sky is the album SOCRATIC dreamed about making.
SOCRATIC makes music that is difficult to categorize and that's okay with them. The songs on Lunch For The Sky are like mini rock operas. Incorporating the best elements of pop and classic rock sensibilities, each song dramatically unfolds through vivid lyrics and grand arrangements, like the haunting "Alexandria As Our Lens" and the explosive anthem "Lunch For The Sky." Duane Okun's impassioned vocals roar on the bizarre "Tear A Gash" and then romance in the R&B inspired "U And Left Turns." These 14 vignettes are bound together by Vinny D'Amico's piano, which is like a character unto itself, commenting on the action as it plays out.
SOCTRATIC'S Lunch For The Sky, so different, so wonderful.
SOCRATIC is Tom Stratton (Percussion), Duane Okun (Guitar, Vocals), Adam Swider (Bass), Vinny D'Amico (Piano, Vocals), and Kevin Bryan (Guitar, Vocals).
