.
(PR) Australian-based rock group OutKry have launched potentially the nation's biggest protest concert 'Rock The Tox!' - against the planned Toxic Waste dump in the environmentally sensitive Mallee district. The boys will headline the Melbourne concert on 27 July with other celebrity acts to be announced shortly. The aim of the concert is renew public interest in metropolitan Melbourne on an issue that seems to have limited awareness in the city that is the source of most of the waste.

The basic facts are: The Victorian State Government has decided to site a toxic waste dump at Hattah Nowingi in the far north west of the state. * 96% of the toxic waste comes from Melbourne (almost 500km away) * The original site @ Ouyen involved resuming private land and was overturned by public protests. * The new site is public land that should have been a reserve and in fact is next to the National Park. - Click here for the Full Story
