Call For Jon Lord Tribute Show With Original Deep Purple and Whitesnake

. (Classic Rock) Musicians across the world have paid tribute to former Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord, who died this week aged 71 after a cancer battle. He passed away suddenly after suffering a pulmonary embolism, commonly associated with the pancreatic cancer he'd been fighting for a year.

Former Whitenake bassist Neil Murray, who played with Lord in the band's late 70s lineup, says: "If the original members of Whitesnake and Deep Purple could bury their differences to play a tribute concert to Jon Lord, I'd be there in a flash."

Glenn Hughes, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath: "I turned my phone on as my plane landed at LAX, to hear the very sad news that we had lost Jon. It has deeply saddened me. A Gentleman and truly gifted. Jon was the one who convinced me to join Deep Purple Mk III. He was a father figure to me in those early years, and I will remember these moments we shared together. His music will live on, and I'm so glad that Jon and I wrote This Time Around. With love in my heart."
