Jimi Hendrix's Home To Become A Museum

12/31/2013
.
(Classic Rock) Jimi Hendrix's London home is finally to be opened to visitors after years of pleading from fans. The guitar icon rented the Brook Street apartment for 30 a week in the late 1960s, and once described it as "the only home I ever had."

Since 2001 it's been the office space for staff of the Handel House Museum classical composer George Frederick Handel lived in another part of the same building in the 1750s.

Hendrix's home was briefly opened to the public in 2010 and tickets were booked out almost immediately. Now a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of 1.2m means museum staff can be moved out of the rooms and they'll be redecorated to look the way they did in the 60s. more on this story
