Johnny Thunders Biopic Coming

. (Gibson) A Johnny Thunders biopic is set to begin production next year. Based on writer Nina Antonia's book, Johnny Thunders: In Cold Blood, the film will chronicle Thunders' life and career as guitarist for the New York Dolls and The Heartbreakers and as a solo artist.

Published in 1987, Antonia's book was updated in 2000 and has been in print for 25 years. She was a friend of Thunders, who once called her "the smartest chick I ever met."

Thunders' impact on rock and roll was monumental, with members of KISS, Guns N' Roses and The Sex Pistols, among others, citing him as an influence. He died in mysterious circumstance in New Orleans in 1991, short of his 39th birthday. Casting for the film has yet to begin. more on this story
