Deep Purple's Roger Glover Honored By The University of South Wales
. "We are delighted to honour Roger in recognition of his great musical achievements," said Professor Julie Lydon, Vice Chancellor of the University of South Wales. "Our University is a powerhouse for the arts and creative industries, and Roger is a great example and inspiration to our students graduating in those disciplines." "My version of university was gaining experience performing with Episode Six, the band I formed during my teens," acknowledged the bassist, who left the group - along with singer Ian Gillan - to join Deep Purple in 1969. "I was a professional musician for the first time and relished the opportunity to learn about the ever-changing music industry," explained Glover, adding, "It is fantastic to see so many graduates realising their potential and gaining degrees from the University today, and I wish them every success in their future careers."
