The Roots, Snoop Dogg and Janelle Monae to Headline Roots Picnic

. (Radio.com) The Roots are bringing out all their friends for The 7th annual Roots Picnic. This year's event, taking place on May 31 at Festival Piers at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia, will be headlined by not only The Roots, but Snoop Dogg and Janelle Mon�e.

This year's lineup, like all the ones before, is an eclectic mix of acts from all genres including A$AP Ferg, Jhen� Aiko, Rudimental, Action Bronson, Biz Markie and The War on Drugs.

Keeping people guessing over who will play the picnic has always been part of the fun for the band and the event's producer, Shawn Gee, who is also The Roots' long time co-manager.

"Our idea was always to present an eclectic mix of talent that reflects the diversity that exists in fans music preferences," Gee said in a statement. "Over the past 6 years we've built the brand with that goal in mind and we feel we've accomplished that this year, its going to be a fun event." more on this story
