(Gibson) Jaco has been named the official film of Record Store Day 2014. The documentary film is produced by Metallica bass player Robert Trujillo and directed by Stephen Kijak and Paul Marchand.

"Record Store Day is a celebration of our youth and beyond," Trujillo said in a statement. "It's the power of memories fueled by this magic (usually) black vinyl disc. There's a reason why Record Store Day is making people head bang, rock out, relax and simply smile. It's all about the joy and power of words, music and sound, not to mention the dynamic range of visual art that goes hand in hand with a record cover, jacket, or sleeve; and you might even get a poster."

As for that poster, Trujillo is referring to the official Record Store Day poster, which features an image of Jaco. The poster will be given away as part of the celebration at select stores, while supplies last.

In addition to the flick, Omnivore Recordings will release Modern American Music . . . Period! The Criteria Sessions on Record Store Day on both CD and vinyl. The release consists of demo recordings made by Pastorius at Criteria Studios in 1974.

As previously reported, Chuck D of Public Enemy is the official ambassador for Record Store Day 2014. more on this story
