Terminally Ill Teen Eminem Fan Dies Day After Meeting Rapper
. (Radio.com) Gage Garmo, a Detroit area Eminem fan stricken with a rare form of bone cancer, died just one day after having his final wish of meeting the rapper fulfilled. Garmo's dream of meeting Eminem spread on social networks via the hashtag #GetGageGarmoToMeetEminem, when a local non-profit the Rainbow Connection stepped in to help facilitate the meeting. "On Thursday (Jan. 8), we were told that Gage wanted to meet Eminem, and we also were told that time was very limited," Rainbow Connection executive director Mary Grace McCarter told The Detroit News. "The fact that Gage was so very ill (meant) we just really got all hands on deck, but it is Eminem and his folks who really saved the day. Everything was dropped and for (Eminem) to come to Gage's home and sit next to him and talk to him was really something very special." McCarter said that the two talked about hip-hop and football during their meeting. Read more here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
