Taylor Swift Keeps Her Public School Donation Vow
. (Gibson) Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to a New York City school. The singer vowed in October 2014 to give all the royalties from her track "Welcome to New York City" to New York's education system. The New York Times reports that the donation is only the first of any proceeds from the track that will continue to go to NYC schools. The first donation will be used to fund Sing!, a musical production competition run by and aimed at high-school students. Swift has been generous with her fortune before. Earlier this year, the singer surprised a fan by sending her homemade art as well as a gift of $1,989 to pay off her student loan. It's a drop in the ocean for Swift, though. On February 25, she was given the IFPI Global Recording Artist of 2014 Award after being named as the world's biggest-selling artist of last year.
