Macklemore's New Track 'Kevin' About Prescription Drug Addiction
. Detailing the downfall of a talented young man who became addicted to oxycontin and died, "Kevin" gets real about the problem of overprescription in America. "He was gonna quit tomorrow/ We're all gonna quit tomorrow," Macklemore raps on the track, which features a tight funky beat and a choir backing his rhymes. "This one is personal� I started writing it when my friend Kevin passed from an overdose on prescription medication," writes Macklemore in an Instagram post. "It was my attempt to process his death. To grieve. And also to examine the over abundance of prescription drugs in America. How quick we're taught at an early age to put a pharmaceutical bandaid over our pain/anxiety." Read more here.
