Emo? Emo? Tickle me Emo! What that's elmo. So this is emocore? What in the hell is that? Oh heavy riffs and melodic vocals, I got it. If that's the goal than these dudes do a great job. The only problem is their tendency to get redundant with repeating their choruses.
You know what, forget that emo label that some people try to tag this band with these dudes rock a bit too hard for that. They mix it up with elements of nu-metal, hard core and nu garage. Instead of getting muddled up with this variance they actually pull it off. If Thursday jammed with Finch and The Vines they might come near to Dead Poetic.
This music isn't incredibly original given that they traipse across the landscape of the before mentioned bands but they do a good job with giving it their own spin. The hard-core elements might be a bit too much for the Jimmy Eat World crowd but Dead Poetic is definitely on to something. This isn't the best CD of the year but it's good enough to capture your attention.
