Bruises From Your Bad Dreams follows the August release of Gorbel's lush debut solo LP Devil's Made A New Friend, and ranges from the lively relationship-battle opener "Desperate Hands" to the rolling, reassuring "Mother/Father" to the cool, airy plaint "Snow Cruncher." "Miserable Without You" is a hopeful ballad anchored by the interplay of Gorbel and Atkins' stirring, evocative voices, while the acoustic version of Devil's track "I'll Do Better" distills the song to its most heartrending and lovelorn essence. The majority of the songs were recorded with Jack Dishel (Only Son, Moldy Peaches) in Manhattan, while "Snow Cruncher" is a holdover from the Devil's sessions, laid to tape with Mike Bloom (The Elected) in Los Angeles last year. Gorbel, formerly of The Honorary Title, is in the middle of a US headlining tour. After a short break later this month, he will hit the road again for a run of shows at To Write Love On Her Arms events on college campuses.
In the meantime he'll be playing shows in New York and Florida during the next few months and stay tuned for his remixes of "High Society" by Bear Hands and "Promises" by The Morning Benders.
