Day in Pop Report for 07/17/2012
The ad reads: "Lady Gaga. Fame. The First Ever Black Eau de Parfum." Last week, the pop superstar announced that there will be multiple versions of Fame. "There are 2 versions of fragrance," wrote Gaga. "One is more affordable. The other is Le Masterpiece, larger bottle, metal cap & eau de parfum. My baby! All my fashion fragrance dreams coming true!" Check out the ad here.
You'll recall, Justin seemed incredulous when he called 911 and the dispatcher didn't know what a Fisker was ... and clearly she wasn't alone. We've now obtained recordings of all 7 911 calls. Descriptions of Bieber's ride included: "aluminum car," "chrome Audi," "stainless steel Ferrari," and "a spaceship." The callers did all agree on one thing -- Bieber and the paps who were chasing him were driving crazy. more on this story
Sources close to the family tell TMZ ... Tameka has not lost hope that her son, Kyle Glover, can make a drastic recovery ... despite doctors declaring him brain dead last week following a jet ski accident. We're told she is telling friends ... she still believes in miracles. According to our sources, Tameka can only keep Kyle on life-support as long as her insurance company agrees to pay ... otherwise she doesn't have the funds to cover the enormous hospital bills. We're told the insurance company hasn't set a specific deadline, but they've made it clear ... they're only willing to shell out coverage for a couple months ... tops. Our sources say that Usher -- who helped raise Kyle for several years -- has been incredibly supportive in this difficult time... but has NOT offered to pay for any medical bills. We're told Tameka does not see him as a viable financial option. As TMZ first reported, Kyle was struck in the head by a jet ski while inner tubing on Lake Lanier -- doctors declared him brain dead days later. more on this story
We're told the move in no way suggests foul play. Robbery Homicide handles high-profile cases, and this one qualifies. Sources tell us ... although it will probably take 4 weeks to get a firm cause of death, it's likely that it will either be classified as an accidental death or death from natural causes. As we reported, a number of pill bottles were found in Sage's bedroom where he died. more on this story
Directed by Tom Munro, who was also behind the singer's 2008 "Give It 2 Me" video, the clip was shot in Florence, Italy last month during Madonna's MDNA tour stop in the city. The tune follows the project's first two singles, "Give Me All Your Luvin" and "Girl Gone Wild." Watch the video here.
Free tickets will be given away at the Highline Ballroom during regular box office hours starting July 13 at 11AM on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. More details here. B.o.B. will be supporting his latest album, "Strange Clouds" which entered the Billboard Top 200 album chart at 5. The album's first single "Strange Clouds" featuring Lil Wayne struck Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has sold over 1.3 million digital copies worldwide.
In the video, No Doubt cast themselves as truck drivers as they drive their rigs to a reunion party. "I think (bassist Tony Kanal) came up with the idea that we should do something with trucks," director Sophie Muller tells Rolling Stone. "The idea is they are all driving to meet after having had their separate lives over the last 10 years." Watch the video here.
Pink has teamed up with producer Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foster The People & The Shins) for the very first time on this release along with long time collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, Billy Mann and Butch Walker. She has also worked with songwriter/producer Dan Wilson (Adele's "Someone Like You"). The lead single, "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)," can be heard and the cover art can be seen here.
Big Hassle sent over these details: The music's genesis took place via a successful grassroots direct-to-fans campaign on PledgeMusic, where artists and fans work together with charities to create albums and other projects. Fans who've participated in the PledgeMusic campaign will receive an exclusive early delivery of the album. The new Ben Folds Five tracks premiering on The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind include: "Erase Me"; "Michael Praytor, Five Years Later"; "Sky High"; "The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind"; "On Being Frank"; "Draw A Crowd"; "Do It Anyway"; "Hold That Thought"; "Away When You Were Here"; and "Thank You For Breaking My Heart". more on this story
The donation marks the largest single contribution ever from an individual to the USO, as well as the first time that the USO is receiving a contribution from an actor's television show proceeds. "The USO would like to thank Charlie Sheen for his very generous $1 million donation to our Operation Enduring Care Campaign and his interest in helping us lift the spirits of those who have endured so much to protect the freedoms we enjoy daily," said General John I. Pray, Jr., Executive Vice President and Joint Chief of Staff, U.S. Air Force. "His support is greatly appreciated, especially from our wounded warriors and their families." more on this story

That's right, sources tell us the rapper has teamed up with 51 Minds Entertainment -- known for TV gems like "Flavor of Love" -- to film a reality show all about his trip down the aisle with his fiance, Tiffany Cambridge. Sources closes to production tell TMZ ... Game's reality show is going to portray a whole new side of the rapper. We're told it will focus on Game as a devoted family man and the hooplah that surrounds planning a wedding -- not all that OTHER stuff (like beat downs posted on YouTube). We're told production on the show began earlier this month, and so far they have met with both MTV and VH1 for distribution. The reps for Game and 51 Minds Ent. had no comment. The real question is -- will 40 Glocc be invited to the wedding? more on this story
TMZ has obtained a photo of the all-star point guard being carried out of a club called SL East. Multiple witness tell TMZ that Kidd appeared "incredibly drunk" -- so much so that at one point he tried to hang from a club light and broke it. According to the multiple witnesses, after being carried out by a few friends, Kidd got in his car to drive off ... despite protests from his friends. Kidd left the club around 1:00 AM and crashed his car less than an hour later. Earlier in the evening, Kidd tweeted a photo of himself (wearing the same gray shirt as in the photo) alongside George Lucas at a charity event. See the photo here.
Roy just filed legal docs in L.A. County Superior Court, asking a judge to dismiss the charges against him because Detective Brett Goodkin appears -- as himself -- in the upcoming movie about the string of celebrity burglaries. Roy says Goodkin was also paid to serve as a "consultant" on the film. In the legal docs, Lopez says Goodkin's involvement in the movie "creates an extreme conflict of interest" -- claiming, "To portray himself for the film and recreating his interaction with the defendants is extremely inappropriate and crushes the due process rights of the remaining defendants." Lopez calls Goodkin's conduct "outrageous" -- and adds, "Any Hollywood embellishing on the part of the Detective as to what the defendants may or may not have done creates extreme credibility issues as to what actually occurred in the case." Lopez wants all charges dropped against him. A judge has yet to rule. more on this story
Police in Peasanton, CA tell TMZ they were called to Tommy T's Comedy Club on Friday night after a fight broke out when a woman became so offended at Griffin's act ... she threw a drink at him while he was on stage. The video obtained by TMZ begins after the woman threw the drink and Griffin can be seen retaliating, pouring his bottle of water on her and then tossing it at her. Security had the woman removed from the venue and the club closed down for the night after the fracas. The club did not want anyone arrested and the woman was gone by the time police got there. It all went down on a Southwest flight from Burbank to Las Vegas Thursday during the aircraft's final descent. Flav grabbed the intercom mic -- ya know, the thing pilots give important safety information on -- and addressed the entire plane. The best part ... Flav capitalized on the opportunity for some free advertising and plugged his Las Vegas restaurant -- Flavor Flav's House of Flavor -- and then just listed everything they sell ... like fried chicken and waffles. He then lead the entire plane in a chant of "Flavaaa Flaaaaaav." Wanna hear?
The footage is pretty insane ... an SUV of pumped up Lakers fans spot Nash in a yellow cab ... pull up next to the car ... pass the guy a Keystone Light ... and Nash accepts. The fans go wild. Nash shot the video on his own cell phone ... which led many to believe it was all a premeditated viral video stunt to promote the beer. But the honchos at Keystone insist it was as REAL as it gets ... telling TMZ, "While we can take credit for the 'Always Smooth' taste of Keystone Light, we had nothing to do with this video." more on this story
We broke the story, Michael went into full cardiac arrest early Friday morning and his girlfriend Omarosa did heroic CPR and re-started his ticker -- especially miraculous since he weighs 325 pounds. Our sources say ... Michael has been on a respirator at the hospital since his admission, but we're told he's "breathing above the respirator" -- a good sign. We're told tests were performed Monday and doctors determined Michael has a "very strong heartbeat" and they are optimistic. That's especially good news because Michael has been sedated ever since his heart attack and doctors aren't sure what his condition will be -- worst case scenario could involve paralysis, although that's looking less likely. Doctors have no immediate plans to take Michael off the respirator and we're told it's still dicey for the 54-year-old actor. We're told the buzz at the hospital is ... L.A. can't afford to lose another high-profile celebrity and "an army of people" are caring for him. more on this story
As TMZ first reported, Paul picked up a sweet Bel Air mansion that boasts 8 bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms ... and used to belong to Avril Lavigne. Paul paid $8.5 million for the house ... but according to the deed, he put a down payment of $3.5 million. The standard down payment on a house like that is usually around 30% of the total price, but Chris' payment represents 44% ... a pretty decent sign he plans to keep the house for some time. Or at least that's what Clippers fans hope. more on this story
Sources close to the actress tell TMZ ... Lindsay is saying she's very confused by the situation and disappointed that she has yet to receive a call from Michael Lohan to discuss his brand new fetus. We broke the story ... MiLo just got the news his GF is with child. We're told she's in her first trimester. Lindsay has expressed some serious concern about how her mother will react to the news ... considering Dina has dragged Michael to court numerous times over the years for failing to pay tons of money in child support. more on this story
Taylor -- who played in the league for 15 seasons -- is being sued by Eric Kim ... an investment broker who claims the two used to be great friends. In fact, Kim says they golfed together, played high-stakes poker together and Taylor even invited Kim to watch Jason compete in the "Dancing with the Stars" finale. According to the lawsuit filed by Behren Law Firm, Taylor eventually "begged" Kim to step in and handle his financial situation ... "due to a history of colossal failures in his investments." Kim says he obliged ... and Jason began to make some serious profits. Kim claims he advised Jason to cash out while he was ahead, but Jason didn't listen. In return for all of his hard work, Kim says Jason turned on him and began trashing him all over town ... calling him a "thief" and telling people he "stole from me." We broke the story, Taylor SUED Kim last year ... claiming the guy is a fraud who scammed him out of $275k. Kim denies any wrongdoing. In fact, Kim says he's the real victim ... because Taylor never paid him a dime in commissions. Now he's demanding at least $15k for his services ... plus a MILLION BUCKS for the damage to his reputation. more on this story
