Audioseether |
Blabbermouth reports: Launch Radio Networks
reports: SEETHER is nearing the end of its run as opening act on AUDIOSLAVE's
North American tour, and frontman Shaun Morgan told Launch that AUDIOSLAVE
singer Chris Cornell recently helped create one memory that will stay with
Morgan for a long time. "About a week ago, Chris asked if I would do 'Fell
on Black Days' with him, 'cause he comes out at the end of the set and
does, like, a three-or-four-song solo thing and then the band comes in
and finishes the set," he said. "So I've done it with him now three times
and that, for me, has been incredible, being onstage, standing next to
Chris Cornell, just him and an acoustic guitar, and we're both singing
'Fell on Black Days', which as a kid was one of my favorite songs and still
is one of my favorite songs." [see full story for more]-

Sony
Passes the Buck |
tinfoil reports: [Sony Statement]You may be
aware of the recent attention given to the XCP content protection software
included on some SONY BMG CDs. This software was provided to us by a third-party
vendor, First4Internet. Discussion has centered on security concerns raised
about the use of CDs containing this software.
e share the concerns of consumers regarding
these discs, and we are instituting a program that will allow consumers
to exchange any CD with XCP software for the same CD without copy protection.
We also have asked our retail partners to remove all unsold CDs with XCP
software from their store shelves and inventory. We will make further details
of this program available shortly.[see full story for more]-

Opeth
Speak Out |
KNAC reports: Opeth lead guy Mikael Åkerfeldt
has commented on the recent arrest of their bus driver Leon R. Whitman
who was charged on Tuesday (November 15th) with one felony count of using
a child for a sexual performance, three counts of computer pornography
and one count each of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and interfering
with custody.
"Our busdriver on the last North American
tour was arrested in Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL for "unlawful activity with
a minor". Basically we're appalled by the fact that we'd employed this
bastard and even more disgusted by his deeds and obviously we will be much
more detailed in our background check for future employments.[He had more

My
Chemical Dolls |
punkbands reports: You can call My Chemical
Romance pretty much anything you want. Chances are, they've heard it all
before, and they've developed pretty thick skins as a result. But there's
one term that annoys them to no end. "We hate when people call us 'dolls,'
" frontman Gerard Way laughed. "We're definitely action figures. We're
a little bigger than 'Star Wars' [figures] and fully articulated, and our
faces are digitally scanned. We're rad."
Maybe we should clear something up: Way
is referring to the brand-new set of MCR action figures made by SEG Toys
(which has done figures for acts like Green Day, Metallica and Good Charlotte
in the past), and due in stores next month — just in time for the holidays.[see

Ozzy
Vs Sharon |
Blabbermouth reports: Sky.com is reporting
that Ozzy Osbourne has taken a sideswipe at his wife Sharon's U.K. TV talent
show "X Factor" saying it's "killing music" and it traumatizes its contestants.
The shaggy-haired former hellraiser was
making an appearance on radio station Planet Rock when he decided to speak
his mind.
"They never go anywhere," Ozzy said of
the show's winners. "Look at that Steve from last year. I think he's back
doing the pub circuit."
But after that put-down for 2004 champ
Steve Brookstein, Ozzy was back with more ranting.
"'X Factor' is one big theatre, it's turning
music into WWF," he went on. [see full story for more]-

Alice Cooper Reunion? |
Rock N Roll Universe reports: In a brand new,
exclusive interview conducted by Rock N Roll Universe, original Alice Cooper
Group guitarist Michael Bruce discusses his days in the Alice Cooper Group,
his brand new 'Second Coming Of Michael Bruce: Alive & Re-Cooperated'
live CD, the recently released Alice Cooper 'Good To See You Again Alice
Cooper' DVD as well as possible plans for a reunion of the original band.
An excerpt from the interview follows :
RNRU : A couple of years ago it was reported
that you were working on a new studio album by the name of 'The Dark Side
Of Love'. What's the status on that, and when can we see that released?
MB : Well, here's what happened. I've got
pretty much most of it done. Neal(Smith) called me up, and he was telling
me a story about how Bob Ezrin got out of L.A.. He's from Toronto, so he
wanted to be closer to his family, so Bob bought a place back there in
Connecticuit and they've been hanging out and whatnot. Bob had said to
Neal, "We ought to get together and do one more album." And, that was kind
of music to Neal's ears. We need to find some songs, so I guess the thing
is potentially there, except I guess we have to sort of audition the songs.
(Laughs) Rather than, it used to be, when the band was the BAND, and we
had a record deal, those were our songs, and we had to make the best of
them, and guess what, they turned out to be great hits. Now that there's
no band anymore, and Alice is the guy, we submit songs to Bob Ezrin and
Alice, and if they don't think they're good enough, then it doesn't happen.
It's very strange to say the least. So I told Neal, "Well, I'm putting
this album out, and I've got a bunch of tunes on it that could be Cooper
tunes just like they were before." He said, "Why don't you send some, I'll
let Bob hear them, and see what he thinks." So, I kind of held off releasing
the album, and I swore I wouldn't do this again, because that's what I
did with 'In My Own Way.' I held off on that, and it never happened, then
I went and did 'Battle Axe' with The Billion Dollar Babies. That almost
happened, but it didn't. (Laughs) So, I said that I wasn't going to do
it, but at this point in time if it could be the catalyst for us coming
together again, even if it's just writing some songs, that'd be great.[see

Bayside
Carry On |
Victory Records reports: The tragic accident
early Halloween morning that took the life of Bayside drummer John “Beatz”
Holoran and seriously injured bassist Nick Ghanbarian was devastating to
the band, their families and friends. After spending the past two weeks
mourning their losses, singer/guitarist Anthony Raneri and guitarist Jack
O’Shea will be rejoining the Never Sleep Again Tour tonight in St. Petersburg,
Florida at Jannus Landing. “The outpouring of support from the public has
been incredible”, said singer/guitarist Anthony Raneri, “we really appreciate
the donations and massive amount of mail from fans sharing their sorrow
over the loss of John. It’s amazing to know how many lives he touched.”
Raneri and O’Shea will perform on acoustic guitars for the remainder of
the tour – their prowess in this format was documented on their current,
self-titled album, with the song, “Don’t Call Me Peanut”.
The Never Sleep Again Tour presents some
of Victory Record’s hottest acts, with powerhouse Hawthorne Heights headlining
and Silverstein and Aiden joining Bayside for an incredible night of music.
The solidarity between these bands was illustrated after Holoran’s death,
when each member of the tour got commemorative tattoos with Bayside’s bird
logo. [see full story for more]- Click

Tegan
and Peta |
Peta reports: Setting aside time during a
recent tour stop in PETA’s hometown of Norfolk, Va., Canadian indie-rock
twin-sister team Tegan and Sara stopped by PETA headquarters to shoot a
brand-new print anti-fur public service announcement (PSA) for peta2, PETA’s
youth division. In the PSA, Tegan and Sara—who are still riding high from
the success of their latest album, So Jealous (Sanctuary Group Records/Vapor)—are
shown with Liby, the adopted canine companion of a PETA staffer, next to
the tagline “If you wouldn’t wear your dog, please don’t wear any fur.”
The PSA goes on to explain that when it comes to feeling pain, there’s
no difference between “man’s best friend” and animals killed for their
skins.
“I do feel like there are alternatives
to killing animals for foods and materials,” says Sara, who also strongly
opposes factory farming and its devastating impact on animals, the environment,
and human health. “I don’t wear fur myself.”
“We just have no idea why anyone would
want to wear fur,” adds Tegan. “I don’t think fur looks very good on people.
… I think it’s really unattractive, and it’s ridiculous. I don’t think
the fur industry has a chance. I have the feeling that young people today
are intelligent enough.” [see full story for more including the full interview]-

Scott
Reeder(Kyuss) Solo Debut |
Black and White PR reports: Some 18 years
in the making, TunnelVision Brilliance, the debut solo offering from Scott
Reeder, will be released by Liquor and Poker Music on Jan. 24, 2006. An
MP3 of “The Day Of Neverending” off of TunnelVision Brilliance is now available
at the label’s website, www.LiquorAndPokerMusic.com.
As a member of two legendary underground
bands, Reeder has made a considerable impact on heavy music. First with
The Obsessed – a group Rolling Stone praises for “almost single-handedly
inventing” doom metal – and then as bassist for desert rock pioneers Kyuss
(whom All Music Guide dubbed a “heavy metal Velvet Underground…the blueprint
often copied but never quite replicated by countless underground metal
bands”), Reeder helped to lay the groundwork for a revival of organic and
heavy yet musical rock championed to this day by both cult and mainstream
icons alike. [see full story for more]- Click

Marley's
Ghost Taps Van Dyke Parks |
conqueroo reports: Since forming 20 years
ago, Marley’s Ghost has built a singular reputation among discerning roots-music
lovers for its ultra-tight four-part harmonies, instrumental virtuosity
and animated live performances. On Spooked, the band’s eighth album, yet
its first to receive a full-fledged national release (on Sage Arts Records
through Ryko Distribution), Marley’s Ghost creates a musically sophisticated,
thematically rich piece of work that serves as a belated coming-out party
for a band that deserves to be more widely heard.
The album, slated for release February
21, 2006, bears the stamp of two legendary figures whose idiosyncratic
skills match up beautifully with the band’s own — composer/arranger/player
Van Dyke Parks, who jumped at the chance to produce, and cartoonist R.
Crumb, who illustrated the package.[see full story for more]-
