Portnoy Vs Tate
KNAC reports: Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has posted the following comments in the Forum section of his website in response to a suggestion from a fan that Queensryche frontman Geoff Tate would have maybe joined the band on stage at their April 1st date in New York City: "I'm tired of being politically correct... For the record, Geoff Tate is a 2-faced douchebag. Since he has begun doing O:M2 press, he has been consistantly bashing DT and even me personally in the press... (why, I have no idea?) But I'm tired of biting my tongue, when he obviously can't. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Kennedys Vs Jello
punkbands reports: The current members of the Dead Kennedys have responded to former frontman Jello Biafra's recent comments. "News Flash! Jello Biafra no longer sings for Dead Kennedys! In other news: Eli Whitney invents the cotton gin! Seriously, do we have to go through this every time East Bay Ray, Klaus Flouride, DH Peligro and new singer Jeff Penalty play a show? We have never tried to trick anyone into thinking that Jello is still with the band. If five years of touring, countless press releases, articles, reviews, the DK website, ads and posters featuring the names and photos of the new lineup, and seemingly endless reminders from Jello himself have failed to point out that the band has a new singer, we suppose we will have to work up a new plan: a direct mailing campaign supported by billboards, bus ads, and skywriting!"[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Titled "Our Puzzling Encounters Considered," the album will feature new drummer Jo n Cole (a Boston native) and will likely consist of twelve tracks. Accept DVD
MVD reports: MVD and Drakkar Entertainment are pleased to announce the home viewing release of Accept - Metal Blast From The Past for US distribution on DVD on June 6th, 2006.

This DVDplus (double sided disc: DVD and Audio CD) captures the spirit of ACCEPT's early career with previously unreleased numbers, the Japan bonus track "Rich And Famous" and demo versions of five "Breaker" cuts. It also contains a video recording from Osaka, a visual document of the group's first Japanese tour, which proves impressively how enthusiastically the guys from Solingen were celebrated in the Land of the Rising Sun. Until now, this performance was only available on a double live LP, entitled "Staying a Life". There is also footage from their 1993 show in Sofia, broadcast by Bulgarian television at the time and documenting the comeback of a band which had split up a few years previously. For all those who want more, there are various interviews, a complete discography, a photo gallery and complete lyrics. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Residents of Crime
Cordless reports: For over 30 years, The Residents have been musical innovators, visually aware and tech-savvy. In conjunction with Cordless Recordings, they will release the River of Crime series, starting May 30th, 2006. This upcoming project is another example of how The Residents push the creative envelope, reaching further into previously uncharted waters to break new ground.

River of Crime is a horrifying, twisted, often hysterical account of a Residents' friend who has somehow become convinced that crime, like a hacking cough or a ravenous tick, has somehow attached itself to him and now it's closing in for the kill. He says that, in the same way that some people are accident prone or lucky, he has become a crime magnet. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

ELO Revisited
Special Ops reports: To celebrate their 35th anniversary, Electric Light Orchestra is releasing expanded editions, featuring bonus tracks and liner notes by Jeff Lynne, of seven ELO titles this year. The first two, No Answer (1971) and ELO 2 (1973) are in stores NOW.

Three and a half decades after the ELO concept first turned on the world to the possibilities of orchestral rock beyond the walls of classical music, Jeff Lynne returns to the original analog master source tapes to complete the first comprehensive album restoration campaign in ELO history. The group thrived for 15 years under Lynne's guidance, during which time they recorded and released 12 original studio albums and (in the U.K. only) one live LP. At their peak between 1974 and 1981, ELO amassed a string of nine consecutive RIAA gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums, spanning three different record labels; through 1986 (when Lynne disbanded the group), they charted over two dozen singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including 20 Top 40 hits.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Dion in Blue
Razor & Tie reports: You might recognize Dion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or as the singer of "The Wanderer." With his latest release, BRONX IN BLUE, Dion pays homage to the music that inspired him as a child growing up in the Bronx. BRONX IN BLUE came out on Razor & Tie last week (it was released digitally earlier in the year) and is a 14-track all-acoustic blues collection that features songs by blues greats such as Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, and Hank Williams as well as two original tracks.

Renowned artists Bruce Springstreen, Paul Simon, and Lou Reed have all cited Dion as one of their prime influences. From the doo-wop of Dion & The Belmonts, during which time he toured with Buddy Holly and Richie Valens' Dance Party tour, to the rock n' roll of "Runaround Sue" and "The Wanderer" to the contemplative songwriting of "Abraham, Martin, and John," to the blues of BRONX IN BLUE Dion's music has impacted people for nearly half a century.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
