Idol Vs Rosie
TMZ reports: [for those that actually care about such things] Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer of "American Idol," has just released a statement in response to criticism made against the show by "View" host Rosie O'Donnell. It reads:

"Without wishing to add to the obvious self-promotion of Ms. O'Donnell, I feel as though I must refute her absurd and ridiculous claims that 'American Idol' is racist and/or weightist.

"Ms. O'Donnell has, once again, spoken without thought or knowledge. Viewers need only look at the show tonight to realize that 'American Idol' constantly confirms to America that talent has nothing to do with weight or color." [In related news, Idol has reportedly pulled access to all clips from the show to The View. Oops] - Click Here for the Full Story

Bastard Fairies Spread the Music
PR reports: Los Angeles based THE BASTARD FAIRIES have quietly on their own become somewhat of an internet phenomena. Within a span of just five months, they have become the #18 Most Subscribed (All Time) Musicians and #31 Most Viewed (All Time) Musicians on You Tube with their innovative homemade videos for their upcoming release Memento Mori (The Bastard Fairies Records/Adrenaline Music Group), in-stores on April 10th.

Utilizing Garage Band software on a Mac and searching thrift stores for old guitars, children's instruments and other odd items, YELLOW THUNDER WOMAN and ROBIN DAVEY created Memento Mori which will surely have people saying "did they really say that?" That's the appeal that the band has. They speak their mind through their music. The reason they started creating their own music is because "there wasn't any music out there that they liked listening too", YELLOW THUNDER WOMAN says. With tracks like "Whatever", "A Venomous Tale" and "We're All Going To Hell", YELLOW THUNDER WOMAN takes you on a journey portraying life's many trials and pitfalls through their twisted point of view. Soon after the album was completed, they opted to give it away FREE on their website as a way of getting the attention of music lovers and spreading the word about their music. People can currently download 12 tracks [at the full story link] - Click Here for the Full Story

The Festies
PR reports: MelodyTrip today announced the launch of The Festies, the US Music Festival awards. Melodytrip.com is the destination for music festival fans nationwide, featuring the FestivalFinder, a searchable database of thousands of music festivals, live coverage, breaking news a network of festival bloggers, and many more festival related features and tools.

MelodyTrip decided to launch the Festies for several reasons. The growth and popularity of music festivals in the last several years has been nothing short of explosive. Music festivals are now the heart and soul of the US concert industry, and fans want to learn about them, talk about them with other fans and debate the merits of them. It has taken an incredible amount of energy, creativity, imagination, and hard work by tens of thousands of festival directors, producers, promoters, and staff to make this happen. Yet, even with an overload of music industry awards programs, up until now, there has been no dedicated forum to honor and thank the people who have enriched the US music landscape with hundreds of wonderful events. Today's Reviews
....Bayside The Walking Wounded
By covering more diverse ground than previous releases, yet still staying true to their broken-heart roots. If the Bayside we see on this release is as wounded as the album title might suggest, one can only imagine the musical force they'll be at full strength. (4 stars) - Read the full Bayside The Walking Wounded review

....Beneath the Sky - What Demons Do to Saints
So it's refreshing to hear Cincinnati's Beneath the Sky, a band that tops its metal riffs with not only drill sergeant screams but death metal hisses, screeches and growls as well. Sometimes the band turns on a dime from death metal to melodic hardcore- Read the full Beneath the Sky - What Demons Do to Saints review

....Belinda Carlisle - Voila
Who knew Carlisle had a French language album in her, let alone that she speaks/sings French? And what's equally surprising, Carlisle sings well in this language of love. (3 stars) - Read the full Belinda Carlisle - Voila review

....Ari Hest - The Green Room Sessions
The EP is a teaser of sorts for a full length album that is scheduled to be released later this year. Hest's voice is slightly raspy and draws you in so that you forget about everything else; a voice you can get lost in. (4 stars) - Read the full Ari Hest - The Green Room Sessions review
