Bellamy Brothers Team Up With The Bacon Brothers
Aristo reports: Legendary Country duo, The Bellamy Brothers, have released a new single and video with The Bacon Brothers, titled "Guilty of the Crime."

"Guilty of the Crime" is currently in medium rotation on CMT Pure and featured worldwide on CMT.com. Directed by Laura Lyness, the video was shot in a single day inside an actual prison in Memphis, Tenn. The video features both sets of brothers and former "Beverly Hills 90210" star Shannen Doherty.

"This song gave all of us an opportunity to do something a little different," says David Bellamy. "We had a great time recording and filming with the Bacon Brothers and feel like we had the perfect song to bring both of our styles together. Having Shannen Doherty in the video was an added bonus, and shooting in a real, working prison gave the whole thing the right look and vibe." - more on this story

Suicide City Starting a Frenzy This Summer
PR reports: On August 4th, Suicide City releases their debut full-length effort, entitled 'Frenzy,' via Brooklyn label The End Records.

Suicide City was first conceived when Biohazard vocalist/guitarist Billy Graziadei met Karl Bernholtz, vocalist of the south Florida band The Groovenics. The pair was joined by drummer Danny Lamagna, who had been recommended by members of Sworn Enemy. Soon after, Groovenics guitarist AJ Marchetta was added to the fold, and the lineup was finally rounded out by former Kittie bassist Jennifer Arroyo.

"'Frenzy' is such an eclectic blend of music," says Marchetta. "This band is unafraid and unapologetic about what we create, and because of that we have an album with a really wide musical landscape." Graziadei points out, "In our short time together, Suicide City has achieved more on our own than most bands do in their whole career with the help of a label." Perhaps Bernholtz sums it up best: "Suicide City thrives on making people happy and smile through our music without having to candy coat anything. Life does not 'suck and then you die.' Life is great, dangerous, exciting, strange, and then you die. I guess that's what we're trying to portray with our music." - more on this story

Ed Palermo Gives Frank Zappa A Jazz Makeover
Glass Onyon reports: Jazz is not dead - at least not when the Ed Palermo Big Band plays it. Part of the Cuneiform 'Contemporary Masters' series, 'Eddy Loves Frank' is the third album to feature the music of Frank Zappa as arranged by Ed Palermo and performed by the Ed Palermo Big Band.

A brilliantly original and entertaining big band jazz CD, 'Eddy Loves Frank' shows that Zappa's music has become assimilated into the American songbook. It also reveals that Zappa, as an American rock composer, deserves to be recognized with as much respect as America's other revered popular music composers, including jazz composers such as Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, Oliver Nelson, and popular song composers such as George Gershwin and Cole Porter. Despite the music's complexity, Palermo's incredibly skilled 18-piece band and three guest musicians play it with inspiration and apparent ease.

"I'm prouder and happier than ever about this CD because I felt less constrained to follow Zappa's structural formats," says Ed. "It has never been my intention to replicate Zappa's recordings (what would be the point?) and with this new CD (my 3rd of Zappa music) I felt freer to manipulate the structures more than I ever have. I suppose it's a natural evolution." - more on this story

Inward Eye Set Album Release
RCA reports: Canadian rockers Inward Eye are set to release their debut album Throwing Bricks Instead of Kisses on August 18th (RCA Records).

With a sound reminiscent of The Jam, The Kinks, The Clash and The Who, Throwing Bricks Instead of Kisses was recorded at producer Arnold Lanni's (Simple Plan, Finger Eleven, Our Lady Peace) studio in Temecula, California the boys took the lessons learned from logging ungodly long trips in their van, criss-crossing the continent on tour, and put them to the test in the studio.

Fresh off a club tour supporting Sum 41 as well as a performance at Bamboozle, the brothers Erickson, Dave (vocals/bass), Kyle (guitar/vocals), and Anders (drums), will be introducing American fans to their high energy set that has won over hoards of Canadian tastemakers as well as The Who, who handpicked the band to open for them on their past two tours. Inward Eye was recently nominated for a Much Music Video Award in the category of "MuchLoud Best Rock Video" for "Shame", their first Canadian single. - more on this story

Glass Pear Is Coming
PR reports: Glass Pear, the quirky moniker for Welsh singer-songwriter Yestyn Griffiths, will release his debut album "Streets Of Love" on August 25 on WOL Records. Self-produced with cohorts Tom Welham and Tasha Baylis in a tiny north London flat, "Streets Of Love" is a collection of ten stellar songs that feature Yestyn's epic piano-clad melodies, soaring voice and existential lyrics. The first single "Last Day Of Your Life", mixed by Coldplay producer Danton Supple, was featured in Grey's Anatomy and 90210.

The younger brother of recording artist Jem, Yestyn started his career co-writing tracks for her acclaimed debut "Finally Woken" and follow-up "Down To Earth". In 2008 he sent a demo of Glass Pear songs to the then Music Director of KCRW 89.9 FM Los Angeles, Nic Harcourt, who became an early supporter. Others such as Alex Patsavas, the music supervisor for Gossip Girl, soon caught on to the buzz, predicting that Glass Pear "would have a big impact in 2009. [He writes] beautiful, melodic, well-crafted pop songs."

Echoing the influence of early Radiohead and Coldplay, "Last Day Of Your Life", "Listen To The Music" and "Come Alive" weave pretty guitar melodies into complex, modulating arrangements, climaxing in huge, sing-a-long choruses. "Violet Waters" deceptively opens with Keane-like piano before bursting into an exotic beat reminiscent of Bloc Party. Just as intriguing is the shuffling, Cure-inspired romp of album title track "Streets Of Love", where Yestyn's lyrical obsession with love and death finds its outlet: "People punch and people bruise on these streets of love/Where we live and die." In "Wild Place" and "My Ghost", Yestyn strips back his sound to naked acoustic and voice, reaching his most powerful emotional expression at the finale of the album's closing track.
