The Eels frontman had a bit of a run in with authorities in the UK after his beard apparently set off some red flags. NME reports that London police questioned Mark Oliver Everett, aka E in Hyde Park on Monday, June 21, after a suspicious person fitting his description was reported outside a nearby embassy.

The heavily bearded Everett was taking a break between interviews at a nearby hotel to promote the new EELS album Tomorrow Morning.

After telling the police he was a rock musician, not a terrorist, they let him return to his press duties. Says Everett about the incident, "Not every guy with short hair and a long beard is a terrorist. Some of us just want to rock." - more on this story

Singled Out: The Don'ts Breakdown
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today The Don'ts tell us about "Breakdown" from their brand new album "Those Delicate Chemicals". We now turn it over to The Don'ts for the captivating story:

It was a dark and stormy night, some Monday in June of 2007, when the band converged in the parking lot outside their rehearsal space in the cuts of San Francisco. Joey Don't, guitarist extraordinaire, had been at work avoiding lawyers all day, curled up in his cubicle, lining up dates for a potential SoCal tour. Kenny Don't, the drummer, was working days and nights at his new video store, the worries piling up like rabid dust-bunnies in the corners of a late-fee hell. And JJ "Powerboy" Don't was scrambling to keep hold of yet another job he so lasciviously wanted to quit, for in his heart of hearts, he was truly a superhero. Jonny Don't, singer, was the only one who had the opportunity to shirk all responsibilities and bask in the glow of the Strange Unknown.... and shirk and bask he did.

As they trudged solemnly, their notorious banter notwithstanding, out of the rain and into their womblike rehearsal space, Jonny wrapped his friends' anxieties around him like a warm coat. A warm, cantankerous, shrieking coat. JJ set aside his ubiquitous paper-bag-of-unknown-foodstuffs and powered up his bass amp. Joey opened the first of many cheap beers and turned on every pedal at his disposal, creating a carnivalesque glow at his feet. Kenny scavenged among a thousand broken drumsticks in search of illicit medical treats. And Jonny broke the seal on his last remaining bottle of pseudophedrine-laced cough syrup. As its sweet sickening warmth spread through his body, as the lights went down and the tube amps buzzed, a bizarre anthem -- later to be known as "Breakdown" -- was born.

The lyrics spat themselves out, oddly prescient about the economic breakdown that was to start just a few months later. Were The Dont's channeling some bizarre foreknowledge of the recession? Was the Dark Unicorn Of The Apocalypse trying to tell the world something, using The Dont's as messed-up messengers for a new millennium? Or was it just an ill-fated confluence of anxiety and stimulants? Following the churning tide of this improvised anthem, gazing with rolled-back eyes at his brothers burying their worries behind a wall of sound, Jonny wondered aloud, "What does it all mean?" Just then, the amps exploded.

Hours later, lying partially-conscious in a hospital bed, Jonny began to piece together how the events had unfolded. There had been chaos, and indulgence, and redemption. And his cell phone had recorded it all. He looked around the hopelessly white hospital room. Beside him, his brothers slept in silent vigil, drooling sweet nothings on the sterilized linoleum. He yanked out his IV, grabbed his medical chart, and began scribbling a note to himself. What doctors would later misinterpret as his signature on a Do-Not-Resuscitate form was just one lonely line from Jonny's fractured mind to his half-crazed band of brothers: "Don't let the breakdown get you down."

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

New Flamenco Metal Album Features Steve Stevens Guest Appearance
Steve Stevens makes a special guest appearance on Benjamin Woods' Flametal new album "Heavy Mellow," which will come out on July 6th on Flametal Records. This album embraces the metal-works of Slayer, Megadeth, Kiss and the Scorpions to name a few.

"This is a Flamenco Guitar tribute album to some of the great Metal masterpieces," says Woods. "It is definitely a different album from the other FLAMETAL releases and is more of a solo effort that is a very powerful to play live. Although the songs are very dark, everyone gets it, even your Mom."

Woods is a new breed of virtuoso and a speed metal guitarist from the start. By a twist of fate Woods gear was stolen by a junkie, leaving him with only a Spanish Guitar to practice on. This was the defining moment that ignited a passion for Flamenco Guitar.

Singled Out: Synaptic Disturbance's Gallows
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today antiMusic scribe and Synaptic Disturbance mastermind Dan Upton tells us about "Gallows" from the brand new album "They Are Killers". We now turn it over to Dan for the story:

This song ultimately took on a life of its own. Around the time I started writing for the album, I'd been watching Ken Burns' national parks documentary and learned that Yosemite roughly translated to "they are killers." I decided to take that and run with it for a concept album, although I never wrote any lyrics and thus had to tell my story through song titles and musical feeling. When it came time to record though, all I had was riffs for 12 songs with no order and nothing more concrete about my story line than an assassin being hunted, brought to justice and executed, and temporarily escaping from the afterlife before his final punishment. I just picked an order to record the then-untitled songs, named them based on where they happened in the story, and mostly left them the way they were. What became "Gallows" was originally just the echoey guitar and the main riff. I'd wanted a mean synth underneath the echoes, but when I started thinking about the story in terms of the execution the synth bass morphed into a separate intro. The bridge with a mellotron choir came about thinking about the priest giving last rites and the assassin struggling to escape. Finally, I ended up adding the rainstorm to lend more mood to the intro and outro, and came up with the idea of having the storm come to a head and introduce the heavier riffs with a big thunderclap.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

Producer Doug Derryberry (Kings Of Leon, Ben Folds Five) discovered the band's considerable talents at a NYC show and produced their first EP. For Old Time Speaker producer Chad Copelin (Bishop Allen) took the Northeastern band below the Mason Dixon to record their ten-track endeavor.
