Choirboys frontman Mark Gable says he believes the 61-year-old founding guitarist is unable to perform anymore and will probably never record again, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
"That is true, Malcolm is sick," Gable told ABC Radio on Wednesday morning. "From what I understand, and it's even been confirmed in part by his son Ross (Young), that it would appear Malcolm is unable to perform anymore.
"It's not just that he is unwell, it's that it is quite serious. It will constitute that he definitely won't be able to perform live. He will probably not be able to record."

In the latest edition of her ongoing YouTube video series, Love takes on classic rock hero Bruce Springsteen, and throws saxophones under the bus in the process.
"I like Nebraska," she says as something of a disclaimer at the start of the clip regarding the classic rocker's legendary 1982 solo album. "Whenever I say that to a Springsteen person, they look at me funny."
Love goes on to detail a night out when director/writer/journalist Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous) took her to L.A.'s Staples Center to catch Springsteen put on one of his legendarily marathon concerts: "I could only last an hour and a half of a three-and-a-half-hour show with the Boss.
"My Springsteen problem is just that saxophones don't belong in rock and roll, they just don't belong," she adds with a pained look on her face. "I don't think [Springsteen] sits around listening to Hole records. Do you?"

He's just released his second solo album, Homo Erraticus, which sees him using his Gerald Bostock character for the third time. It first appeared on 1972 Tull release Thick As A Brick, then returned on Anderson's_ Thick As A Brick 2_ in 2012.
He tells Billboard: "To me, Jethro Tull is the vast body of repertoire - the record catalogue, the music. If we look back on it, it kind of came more or less to an end during the last ten years or so, with a couple of live albums and a studio album of Christmas material. That might define the last albums under the name Jethro Tull.
"It's a body of work I rather think is now historical, since the weight of it lies back in the 70s and 80s. And I rather think it's nice to leave that as legacy."

"I really didn't like some of the things Paul Stanley said in his speech, because obviously he's a little aggravated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," Frehley tells ABC News Radio. "I know he wanted to get other members in the group inducted."
Ace adds that "there was some political stuff going on," which led to disagreements about whether KISS would perform at the event. "Unfortunately we did not perform, even though I was up for it," he notes, adding, "I try to stay away from politics. I don't think politics and music work. I never did."

The video for Local H's version of "Team" was directed by frontman Scott Lucas. He explains why they selected the track to record, "I remember going down a Lorde rabbit hole on YouTube last summer, and the song that really stuck with me was 'Team,'" recalls Lucas.
"The lyrics killed me. They were everything I'd been wanting to hear someone say in a pop song. I sorta teared up a little. I tried playing an acoustic version at a show in January, but quickly realized that the song was an anthem and should be rocked out. Besides, acoustic Lorde is the Boss's territory now."
The two man group recorded the track at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio, along with two other new songs, with their producer Andy Gerber. Check out the video here.
"Rather than wait until we have enough songs for a full length, we just wanna record the songs as they come to try and capture that energy when it's new and exciting," explains Lucas. "We also want to record the odd cover here and there for our next 'Awesome Mix Tape' EP."
Fans can catch the band out on the road this spring. They are kicking off the new North American tour tonight, April 16th, in Indianapolis, IN and will conclude the trek on June 7th in Des Moines.

In a recent interview with Guitarist magazine, Dave Davies talked about the difficulties the band experienced when recording their classic 1964 song "You Really Got Me." The engineers couldn't quite figure out how to record Davies' distorted guitar sound, which was something new all together.
Said Dave: "The problems we had trying to record 'You Really Got Me'! It was like they just didn't know how to record it. They didn't know how to record the bass or bass drum. They certainly didn't have a clue how to record my guitar sound. We had to record it twice; the first one sounded crap."
Dave Davies just played his first gig in the U.K. in 13 years this past Friday (April 11), at Barbican Hall in London.

Bassist Rachel Bolan had this to say about the band's decision to record a series of EPs instead of a full length studio album, "The idea really appealed to me. Especially with the constantly changing musical climate. I like the idea of a steady flow of new music, as opposed to releasing a full-length album then riding it for the next two years."
Frontman Johnny Solinger adds, "The third time in the studio as the voice of Skid Row was the proverbial charm, and the proof is in the tracks. United World Rebellion Part 2 is the most meaningful work I've done with the band. It's definitely the most I've been challenged, vocally."
For the new album, Mason revisited some of his classic tracks and reinterprets them. The album will also feature some of Mason's most recent songs that he has performed live in recent years.
Mason premiered the first track from the new album, "Dear Mr. Fantasy" last week here. He explained to USA Today the changes he made to the classic for the new versions, "It ["Dear Mr. Fantasy"] came about redoing the chords. I was doing some shows and I was trying to think of something to make it a little more interesting, so I just started playing around with it. I put it in a minor key instead of a major key, and I sort of developed it from there."
He also discussed some of the other tracks on the album. He said, "There is a version of 'World in Changes' that is absolutely nothing like the original and there is a great live version that is absolutely beautiful of 'Sad and Deep as You.'
"There are two or three songs that were on a CD called 26 Letters 12 Notes that I did seven years ago, a Robert Johnson song, 'Come On in My Kitchen' and a brand new song called 'That's Freedom.'"

Mustaine tells Rock Cellar: "You have to ask yourself: 'What does Dave have to gain? Why would he jeopardize his career and everything he's worked for to say, 'Oh, this thing that's totally fake and make-believe is real'?
"I wouldn't do that. I would say, "Is this real? Is this something that is happening to us, is it bad? And if they can do it, why wouldn't they do it with other stuff?'"
And he thinks he could be a victim of changing times as people become more volatile when faced with alternative opinions. "When I was growing up, if you had somebody that you were talking to, and you didn't agree with something they said, you guys could still be friends and just disagree in that area.
"Now, if you have a friend and you disagree about something, the friendship could be up for discussion."

According to the 405, the Montreal rockers will release "We Exist" as the third single from Reflektor, the band's fourth LP. The song, which features a grooving bass line and chorus of "na na na"s, is, according to frontman Win Butler in an interview with TimeOut London, about "a gay kid talking to his dad" about being treated equal.
"We Exist" follows previous singles in "Reflektor" and "Afterlife", both of which were moderate hits on U.S. alternative and rock radio. It all comes from Reflektor, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release late last year.

On Tuesday (April 15), his Kickstarter project closed having raised $6,225,354 from 18,220 backers. With the mission to provide the "best possible listening experience of your favorite digital music," Pono have exceeded their expectations to become the third most-funded project in Kickstarter history.
In an interview with Radio.com, Young shared his delight of the funds raised. "We made a low estimate," Young conceded to Radio.com during a phone interview. "But we are very gratified by the results and by the interest and the support and pledges behind us on Kickstarter. It's great to have the people recognizing what it is we're doing and why we're doing it. There's a lot of people out there that understand this."
He added: "The problem is, people made music, and then it got dumbed down so you could have 2000 to 5000 or however many thousand tracks on your little device that was mostly made to play ringtones. The ringtones sound about the same quality as the music, and music is something that stands on its own. It's an art form, so there's a lot more depth to music than a Xerox copy of it. The same thing could be said of looking at a Xerox of the Mona Lisa the difference between that and the Mona Lisa is the difference between what we have been listening to and what we could be listening to."

The production and mastering sound so good that it's perfect to show off your high-end stereo system."
