(Sanctuary) Sanctuary Records has announced an April 18th release date for Side Three, the much-anticipated conclusion to Adrian Belew’s trilogy of concept albums. Written, performed and produced by Belew, the album features 12 new songs including such stand-out tracks as “Troubles,” “Beat Box Car” and “Truth Is”. Belew released Side One, a power- trio driven album featuring Primus’ Les Claypool and Danny Carey, in January of 2005. After receiving a Grammy® Nomination for the single “Beat Box Guitar,” Belew followed the release up later that same year with Side Two, a more electronica-inspired album that took many of his fans and critics by surprise.
With the upcoming release of Side Three, almost a year after the second album, Belew says that the project is finally complete. However, true to his form, Side Three tends to evoke even more questions than offer a conclusion to the trilogy. “Side Three is an eclectic variety of ideas that didn’t fit either of the other two albums,” he said.
What does fit though is the beautifully-mastered sequence of tracks that take the listener on a curious ride of Belew’s wild imagination. From the groove-infested sounds of “Troubles” to the temperamental “Drive,” Side Three is certainly Belew’s piece-de- resistance.
Track list for Side Three is as follows:
Troubles
Incompetence Indifference
Water Turns to Wine
Crunk
Drive
Cinemusic
Whatever
Men in Helicopters v4.0
Beat Box Car
