Mouth Of Ghosts - This is a song that Ben and Chris had performed under the 'Prada Killers' moniker a few times. When we were talking about the album, and taking inventory on how many tracks we had vs. how many tracks we needed or what sort of songs the record needed to maintain some sort of flow and balance, this song came up as an option. I remember being really concerned that it came off authentic, and that it didn't seem to be an attempt at something we weren't.
We didn't really jam on this too much, instead we just sorta let Gil lay down a bunch of takes and let him sorta go nuts, splicing the best parts and building it in 3 big sections. On just about every song except for this one I went last, but here Greg put the icing on the cake and again, I didn't hear the finished product until the mixes were finished. I was really relieved and surprised by how amazing this song turned out. I think all the forethought really paid off, and the mood of the song was captured by little touches like the brushes or the fretless bass, the shakers...weaving in and around the Latin clave patterns, the floating guitar lead crooning and building suspense through the middle and of course Greg's vocals and at times, lack there of.
