(Kayos) Eagle Vision will combine two of its most popular previously-released Marvin Gaye DVD titles in one blockbuster package on May 13 when the double-disc What's Going On + Greatest Hits Live hits stores in a special Collector's Edition.
Marvin Gaye (1939-1984) is one of the most enigmatic, talented and musically enduring of all the soul stars. His career spanned doo-wop, gospel, rhythm'n'blues and sophisticated pop balladry. His appeal crossed all known cultural boundaries. His two-year refusal to take the stage after the death of his duet partner, Tammi Terrell, from a brain tumor in 1970…the battles he fought with Motown to get What's Going On released…bankruptcy…drug addiction…marital woes…expatriotism…and his shocking death at the hand of his own father makes his legend one of the more troubling yet fascinating stories in music history.

The Marvin Gaye onstage that night at the Edenhalle Concert Hall in Amsterdam, Holland—preserved for posterity as one of the very few Marvin Gaye complete live performances—is a genius-at-work. We can only surmise how much great music he would have produced had he lived past 45.
