James Taylor and His Band of Legends Tour

05/22/2008
.
(PR) James Taylor is gearing up to hit the road this summer for his first sheds tour since 2005. Tickets for "James Taylor and His Band of Legends" tour went on sale in February with nearly all of his 34-city tour dates already sold out. His shows in Ravinia and Tanglewood were the fastest sell-outs in both festivals' respective histories.

The tour kicks off May 22nd in Virginia Beach, VA and also includes Taylor's first Canadian tour dates ever with full band. Taylor will be performing at some of the most distinguished venues in North America, including New York's Jones Beach, two sold-out shows at the Tanglewood Festival, two shows at Ravinia, The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and culminating with two nights at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, Colorado on Aug. 6th & 7th.

"James Taylor and His Band of Legends" reunites Taylor with his 12-piece band of legendary musicians who have worked with him throughout his celebrated career and with whom he has recorded his forthcoming covers album.

"James Taylor and His Band of Legends" tour features:
James Taylor - vocals, acoustic guitar
Michael Landau - electric guitar
Luis Conte – percussion
David Lasley – vocals
Walt Fowler - horns, keys
Lou Marini – horns
Steve Gadd – drums
Kate Markowitz - vocals
Larry Goldings - piano, synthesizer
Arnold McCuller - vocals
Jimmy Johnson – bass
Andrea Zonn - vocals, fiddle

Last November, Taylor released One Man Band on Hear Music, a new CD/DVD set of live recordings which Rolling Stone Magazine described as "an artistic snapshot of his life" and career to date. The DVD portion, directed by Don Mischer and executive produced by Sydney Pollack tells the story of Taylor's songs through exclusive interviews and rare multi-media footage, including home movies and photographs from Taylor's personal archives. The result is an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind portrait of an iconic American artist, his renowned repertoire and the personal stories behind the songs. One Man Band was broadcast on the PBS program "Great Performances Series" on March 3, 2008 and was also broadcast on BBC 4 on May 2, 2008.

As part of Taylor's summer tour, he continues his relationship with Tickets-for-Charity.com in support of several charities including Natural Resources Defense Council and MusiCares. Tickets-for-Charity.com was launched by Charity Partners, a free fundraising platform created to increase funding charities and foundations. A number of the best seats to each of Taylor's concerts across the country are available for charitable sale at www.tickets-for-charity.com. Each seat is priced at face value plus a donation which fans may direct to several charities.
