Double Vinyl for Kate & Anne McGarrigle

Ryko has announced a double vinyl edition of Kate & Anne McGarrigle's The McGarrigle Hour, featuring new liner notes written by Hannibal Records founder and producer, Joe Boyd, as well as appearances by family and friends Emmylou Harris, Loudon Wainwright, Linda Ronstadt, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Chaim Tannenbaum, Jane McGarrigle and Lily Lanken. (The release date was not provided in the announcement). Ryko, which became home to Hannibal in the early 1990's, pays homage to the late Kate McGarrigle and celebrates The McGarrigle Hour as part of the Ryko Analogue Vinyl Series.
Joe Boyd states in the liner notes, "The McGarrigle Hour shows the breadth of her extended family's unique command of so many genres of North American music. Kate has departed but the rest remain: a living treasure of our musical culture."
The Canadian songwriting sisters, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, received global recognition in 1974 when Linda Ronstadt recorded Anna's "Heart Like a Wheel." In the early '80s, The McGarrigle sisters recorded five albums, three with Warner Brothers and two on Joe Boyd's label, Hannibal. During this time, Kate and Anna raised families and toured occasionally. In 1998, the sisters rejoined Joe Boyd along with family and friends to record The McGarrigle Hour. The Ryko Analogue Series brings cult favorites and essential classics back to life. Ryko Analogue culls pivotal releases from its extensive musical catalog and presents them on special edition vinyl. Each re-issue is carefully crafted to deliver the finest quality sound and visual presentation. Common features include deluxe packaging and re-mastered audio.
