Switchfoot Reflect On Their First Time (On Radio)

(Radio.com) Switchfoot's Jon Foreman, like many artists before him, heard his song on the radio for the first time as an in-studio guest. But while the story doesn't seem that exciting, the actual moment was the springboard to Foreman's decision to drop out of college and dedicate his time to the band full time.

"It was very surreal, but we were also in the booth with him, so it was like, 'Did that really happen?'" Jon Foreman recalled of hearing his band's song "Chem 6A," off their 1997′s debut Legend of Chin.

His bandmate (and brother) Tim Foreman, on the other hand, had a very different experience hearing the track. Long before his '68 VW bug had a tape or CD player, the only way to listen to music was from the very staticy car radio, where he happened to hear his music for the very first time.

"The only way you could listen to music was you had a radio and it came in sometimes," he explained. "It happened to come in right when our song was on. I freaked out."
