Bruce Springsteen Reacts To World Cup Biting Controversy (A Top Story)
. On Tuesday (June 24), during a World Cup match between Uruguay and Italy, Uruguay player Luis Surez bit Italian defender, Giorgio Chiellini. According to CBS Sports, with the match tied at 0-0 in the second half and Uruguay needing a win to move forward to the Round of 16, Surez appeared to bite Chiellini in the shoulder. The Italian player than pulled his jersey down off his shoulder in an attempt to show the referee the apparent bite marks on his skin. Though Surez was not ejected from the match-and Italy ended up losing the game 1-0 and were eliminated from the competition-the World Cup organization, FIFA is currently exploring the misconduct and are expected to issue an official ruling by 4PM ET today (June 25). But for Springsteen, the jury is already in. "Biting has no place in sports," he laughed. Continuing to joke, he agreed that Mike Tyson was the last bite that should ever happen in professional sports. - more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
