August Alsina Releases New Track 'Song Cry'

(Radio.com) New Orleans singer August Alsina released the new single "Song Cry" on Tuesday (Oct. 27) after posting a trailer for the track online on Monday. The song, produced by Brandon "Bam" Hodges, finds the young R&B singer working through personal disappointments and demons.

August Alsina borrows from two musical giants to set the emotional tone. He borrows the title from Jay Z's deeply personal track of the same name, and sings portions of The Isley Brothers' 1996 hit "Tears." Alsina sings, "I can't hold back my tears. Let me cry."

Judging from the pain he shares, he could definitely use a good crying session. Alsina discusses how trying to buy his mother's affection failed, not receiving as much love from his peers as he thought he would, and he even reveals how life's pressures caused him to think about suicide. Check out the new song and read more here.
