Top 5 Things That Didn't Escape From The 80's.

Ah, the 80's! The decade where punk morphed into the more commercial friendly new wave, Mr. T got a paycheck, Tom Hanks was a cross-dressing sitcom star not the egotistical star of the silver screen he is today, Madonna was like a virgin and critics called Duran Duran the biggest band since The Beatles. Michael Jackson had most of his original face; the 49'ers dominated football. Hippies became Yuppies by trading in their love beads for BMW's, white picket fences and 2.3 children. Apple gave the world the first home computer anyone could use and Pac Man was the penicle of high-tech video games. Steven Spielberg just wanted to entertain, not indoctrinate moviegoers with his political views. Ed Murphy was nasty and Blondie went disco and then brought rap to the mainstream. KISS unmasked and glam metal dudes wore more makeup than their groupies. Bon Jovi gave music a bad name and The New Kids on the Block gave birth to the dreaded boyband craze. Political correctness was only something you would hear in the more radical corners of University campuses and George Bush told us to read his lips. A CD was something that only Wall Street guys knew about and you could get rich quick with junk bonds.

What a decade. We may never see another one like it in our lifetime. Somethings haven't really changed. Sitcoms are still lame, cheesy pop still sells, the decade of greed gave way to the decade of greed and corruption. But what about the things that never escaped from the 80's, that will remain forever in our mind as a reminder of the decade? That's what we will be looking at with this Top5.

Top 5 Things That Didn't Escape From The 80's.

5) "Yo Malery!", Alf, Leg Warmers, The Rubik's Cube, Atari and "Where's The Beef?"

4) Everyone owned Vinyl Records remember those?

3) "Just Say No" (ok we have "Just say yes!" antiMUSIC T-shirts, so maybe this one doesn't really apply)!

2) "I Want My MTV!" Music Videos on Music Television, an amazing concept that didn't last long after the 80's gave way to the 90's and "Real World" and "Road Rules" marathons. Remember when they showed videos 24 hours a day?

And the Number One Thing That Didn't Escape From The 80's.

Looking at that hot chic on an album cover only to discover it's a dude!
