(TeamRock Radio) Beartooth hope they can hang on to touring drummer Connor Denis after he impressed at Download. Former Being As An Ocean sticksman Denis was brought in as Beartooth's touring drummer after Brandon Mullins stepped down following recording sessions for current album Aggressive.

Speaking to TeamRock at Download after the band played the Main Stage today (Saturday), frontman Caleb Shomo says: "That was the craziest 40 minutes of my entire life. He's a psycho, he crushed it today.

"Things happen for a reason sometimes and we're very happy with our situation right now." Guitarist Kamron Bradbury adds: "As long as he wants to be here for, we'll be happy to keep him around. He rocks." Read more here.

Usher Releases New Single 'Crash'

(Radio.com) Usher has released a new single "Crash." The emotionally-driven song is a return to form for Usher, who rose to fame on his carefully crafted and sensual R&B ballads.

The song has a moodier feel thanks to gritty synths and a steady but structured beat. "Crash" deals with a relationship gone off the rails, but one that's made it hard for Usher to let go.

"Would you mind if I still love you?/ Would you mind if things don't last?/ Would you mind if I hold on to/ You so that I won't crash?" he sings on the chorus.

In the meantime, Usher is hard at work getting ready to release his eighth studio album. He hasn't shared a title or release date yet. Check out Usher's latest here.

Chris Rock Insults Selena Gomez

(Radio.com) Selena Gomez has a lot of fans, but Chris Rock doesn't seem to be one of them. On Tuesday (June 7), the comedian posted a meme comparing Gomez with Beyonce, and let's just say it wasn't very flattering.

On Twitter, Rock shared a meme showing a picture of Gomez onstage and dressed in a Beyonce-like outfit. Between her stance, the glow about her, and the way her hair is blowing in the wind, it's hard not to draw parallels between the singer and the way Beyonce looks onstage.

The meme states, "when you buy your formation tickets on craigslist," insinuating that Gomez is a knock-off version of Bey. Rock tweeted "This is so true" to accompany it. He didn't back down either. The very next day, he tweeted the link again and wrote "ICYMI" for those who might not have seen the first tweet. Read more here.

G-Eazy & Jeremih Release 'Saw It Coming' Off 'Ghostbusters' Soundtrack

(Radio.com) The new Ghostbusters soundtrack won't be available until the film's release on July 15, but fans got a preview Friday (June 10) when Jeremih and G-Eazy released their track "Saw It Coming."

The track has a ghostly feel about it thanks to throwback synths that reference the original film all while putting a decidedly updated spin on things.

G-Eazy raps on the verses while Jeremih takes the chorus. "Something's got you up all night/ So tell me who you gonna call/ Bet you never saw it coming/ Bet you never saw it coming," he sings, referencing the original film's song. Read more here.

Tesseract's Monteith On The Return Of Vocalist Dan Tompkins

(TeamRock Radio) Tesseract's James Monteith says the return of vocalist Dan Tompkins after three years apart helped them pick up from where they left off. Tompkins split from the band in 2011 and was brought back into the fold in 2014, replacing Ashe O'Hara prior to work on the band's third album Polaris, which launched last year.

And guitarist Monteith says the UK outfit were fortunate that the lineup shuffle went as smoothly as it did - adding that writing Polaris was "very easy."

He tells TeamRock: "We've been very lucky that things have worked out musically. Whenever we've been in our various situations, things have not been difficult.

"Dan re-joining worked out really well for us, because it was like we were picking up from where we left off three years beforehand. Polaris was a very easy album to do - Dan knocked it out of the park." Read more here.

Shinedown Poke Fun At Themselves With 'Asking For It' Film

(Classic Rock) Shinedown drummer Barry Kerch says their short film for Asking For It makes fun of the band as much as it does of the music business as a whole. Asking For It is lifted from Shinedown's latest album Threat To Survival and the video features four kids playing the role of each band member as they go through a typical day in the life of a rock star - with sleazy managers, over-the-top photographers and headline-chasing journalists all getting their piece of Shinedown.

Speaking to TeamRock backstage at Download following Shinedown's set on the Lemmy Stage this afternoon, Kerch says: "We write songs about things we go through and you have to be careful what you say in this industry, because it will bite you in the ass if you're not careful.

"And the video is tongue-in-cheek. We're making fun of ourselves first and foremost, and we're making fun of the labels and management and interviews and everything else.

"All those things you hear in the video are things you've actually heard. 'We liked them better when they were fat and lazy drug addicts.' Somebody actually said that to us before. Those are all true stories." Read more here.

John Mayer Explains Why He Joined Dead & Company

(Radio.com) John Mayer along with Bob Weir and other Grateful Dead members sat down with CBS Sunday Morning on June 12 to discuss the project that ended up surprising them all. What was meant to be a special series of fall 2015 shows has blossomed into a full summer 2016 tour.

The project initially attracted Mayer because he saw the potential to grow when playing with the other members onstage. "The reason I wanted to be in this band was to be able to interact with it live," Mayer said, according to a press release. "It would be what I imagine an actor saying, 'I really want to be in a scene with Pacino.'"

He continued, expressing how participating in Dead & Company had stretched him, "Oh man, I have so much more connection with my guitar now than I ever think I had. This solidifies musician over celebrity." Read more here.

Scorpion Child Release 'Reaper's Danse' Video

(Classic Rock) Scorpion Child have released a video for their track Reaper's Danse. The song comes from the group's latest album Acid Roulette, which was released on June 10.

Frontman Aryn Jonathan Black recently said: "We love 70s music. I like maintaining pieces of that decade throughout the music, but it fails to say everything we would like to say.

"It's very important to us to keep the roots and seeds from certain trees we've planted in order to raise up an eclectic forest of majestic beauty elsewhere." Watch the video here.

Swans and Anna von Hausswolff Announce Euro Tour

(TeamRock Radio) Swans have announced a European tour with support from Anna von Hausswolff. The run of 31 dates will kick off in Belgium on October 6 and wrap up in the Netherlands on November 13.

Swans announced the dates to tie in with the release of their latest album The Glowing Man, out on June 17. Hausswolff, meanwhile, will appear in support of her 2015 album The Miraculous. And she says she's preparing something special for her performances.

She says: "I have to pinch my arm while writing this. In October I'll join Swans as their support act on their five-week long European tour. If you know me and know my music you might also have guessed or read that I'm a huge fan of theirs." Read more and see the dates here.

Lemmy Leads Oversize Statue Tributes At Download

(Classic Rock) Oversize statues of Gene Simmons, Alice Cooper and Lemmy have been unveiled as a tribute to the most iconic acts to have played Download over the years.

Also joining the rock star trio are caricatures of Marilyn Manson, Slash and The Prodigy's Keith Flint. The eight-foot replicas, made of polystyrene and fibreglass, have been erected in the VIP area. They were created by second year design students at Birmingham City University.

Module leader Hollie Wright says: "We've developed a strong relationship over the last eight years between our Design for Theatre, Performance and Events course and the Download Festival.

"It is such a fantastic opportunity both for our students - producing sculptures for such a high profile live event - and for a local, yet mammoth, festival to be engaging with such a unique course." Read more and see more photos of the statues here.

Appearing backstage on the CMT Awards on Thursday night (June 9), Lambert told the press, "I've really worked since last summer just writing and recording, so no one is more excited than me to have the next thing come through and show off what I've been doing," according to Rolling Stone Country.

Fergie Previews Her 'Hungry (1st Byte)' Video

(Radio.com) The world is getting closer to new music from Fergie. The singer has released a teaser clip of her upcoming music video "Hungry (1st Byte)." Like the brief snippets she teased on Instagram in May, the black and white video combines stark natural images (think doves and snakes) with a short-haired Fergie rapping.

'To say it's complicated, understatement of the year/ Well maybe conflict made it the new flavor in your ear/ They know that I'm a problem, that's why everybody scared/ Whatever doesn't kill you, can make you an ill-ionaire," she raps in the verse she released.

The video differs from the playful fare Fergie has released in the past, and shows off a stronger aesthetic vision that in many ways reflects Beyonce's Lemonade. Although Fergie's not claiming any direct influences, it's difficult to watch "Hungry (1st Byte)" and not think about Bey's visually complex and rhythmically diverse HBO special. Between the rhythmic editing and the video's strong emotional quality, Fergie seems to have taken a page out of Beyonce's book. Watch "Hungry (1st Byte)" here.
