GNR Reunion of Sorts

BW&BK reports: GUNS N' ROSES fan site Here Today... Gone To Hell! (www.heretodaygonetohell.com) report that Steven Adler and Tracii Guns will be playing shows in Asia later this year.

The band is called GUNS N' ROSES REVISITED and features, in addition to Steven and Tracii, ADLER'S APPETITE members Sheldon Tarsha (lead vocals), Keri Kelli (rhythm guitar) and Robbie Crane (bass).[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

J.Lo pregnant?

Ananova reports: Jennifer Lopez is reportedly pregnant.

Santana Road Plans

liveDaily reports: Though the release of Santana's new album has been pushed back two more months to Nov. 1, that won't keep the group--led by guitar whiz Carlos Santana--from completing another round of tour dates.

Chimaira Stolen

Blabbermouth reports: Fans are so rabid for new CHIMAIRA material that one of them "stole" the video to "Nothing Remains", the first single off the self-titled album that will be in stores August 9, and put it up all over the web. The video was stolen from the director's web site after the fan illegally hacked in. Still in its inital editing phase, the video had yet to be seen by the band or executives at Roadrunner Records. Blabbermouth reports: Jeff Kerby of KNAC.COM recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

KNAC.COM: Your convictions are obviously strong, and that's admirable...you cancelled a couple tour dates overseas because you had a problem with a couple of bands...on that theme, are there any MEGADETH songs you won't do now?

Dave Mustaine: "Well, no. I mean, the ones that I did that I'm not doing anymore that to me is just wrong is SEX PISTOLS' 'Anarchy' 'cause it says I'm an anti-Christ. I'm not really anti anybody so I had to kind of take a look at that. You know, I mean, I am sure if I wanted to I could do 'Black Friday' or 'The Conjuring' because they don't really mean anything anymore, because the lyrics from 'Bad Omen' I had to jumble up because it was a bona fide hex, so it was kind of like gobbledygook, unless you get lucky and you know something about witchcraft you're not going to be able to deduce what that spell is. Blackfoot Too Loud For Scotland

BW&BK reports: A rock band had the plug pulled on its only concert in Scotland last night after complaints about noise.

BLACKFOOT, who have toured with THE WHO and IRON MAIDEN, had re-formed for a world tour and pencilled in a date at the Renfrew Ferry in Glasgow.

The concert was cancelled after the band did a sound check at the floating venue, which was shut recently amid controversy about sound levels. It had been given permission to reopen for shows it promised would not be too noisy.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

andPOP reports: 50 Cent will re-release his latest album, The Massacre, on Sept. 6. The album will include bonus videos and a new unreleased track.

Jagger Framed?

BBC reports: Sir Mick Jagger claimed police tried to plant "white powder" on him during a drugs bust in 1969, according to secret files just released.

The files show Scotland Yard dismissed the claims, saying the Rolling Stones frontman was caught up in "the world of users of dangerous drugs".

Blabbermouth reports: The first academic study into the sweaty pursuit of air guitar playing is to use the work of French philosophers to explain why men and women do it differently.

Doctoral research has begun under the supervision of Britain's first professor of pop music, who is also overseeing a PhD into the art of "moshing", the vigorous head-shaking dance popular among concert crowds.

The study will try and answer why men and women play differently

For the next three years, Amanda Griffiths, 32, a dance teacher from north Wales, will attempt to explain, in 60,000 words, why the attractions of an invisible guitar are generally overlooked by women, and how the girls who get involved do it differently. UK Follows RIAA Lead

Reuters reports: Record companies in Britain are filing their first ever lawsuits against five people accused of illicitly sharing music online, after settling out of court with dozens of others.

Payola Fallout

Reuters reports: New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer has settled his payola case against Sony BMG. Now, the radio and music industries, which felt they had already cleaned up their act, are left wondering what difference, if any, the settlement will make.

In the short term, Sony BMG's July 25 payola admission is already making waves. Some Clear Channel program directors say they are now required to attach documentation to any merchandise received from labels, declaring it was not received in connection with providing airplay. And on July 26, Archway Broadcasting fired Blake Larson, music director of its top 40 station WRHT in Greenville, N.C. Spitzer said Larson accepted a $1,365 laptop computer, $900 in airfare and PlayStation 2 equipment from a label in exchange for airplay of the label's artists.
