Victory Vs iTunes

(antiMusic) Absolute Punk has posted some rather interesting reported leaked emails between Apple head Steve Jobs and Tony Brummel of Victory Records. If these emails are indeed genuine, then it appears that the big dispute between Apple and Victory is not that Apple was unwilling to feature the label's music (which Jobs offered to do) but Brummel's wanting special treatment for his label (as well as his ego). After Jobs told Brummel "I don't see us doing a major PR campaign around this - we have too much on our plate that's more important to our music efforts right now. But we can get your music on iTunes. What's holding that up?" Brummel responded, "At least I now know that being the ..1 Independent Record Label in the biggest music market in the world has no meaning to Apple." And apparently the major labels were not greedy enough to Brummel's mind, "The majors were not thinking when they gave you their content for free without negotiating a % of each hard drive sold and/or equity in Apple or bonuses on increases in the company's valuation." Again these are reportedly leaked emails between the two CEOs that were exchanged on April 12th but the Absolute Punk article does not provide a source.
